Dr Aceves looked at me last night and said "why you dont look like you have had surgery" I said, he would know, maybe he just opened me up and jumbled around some stuff so i'd feel sore......hmmm tricksy man. I trust no one untl I see my new tum tomorrow with the contrast test . Then again, i had never seen it before so how will i know? oh, I suppose i'm just kiddin around but i really am hungry. hope that goes away soon. head hunger? does that cause the growlies? husband wants to pick me up from the airport and take me to thanksgiving! i suppose i'll go...as long as there is turkey shaped Jello

I am really hungry too ! dietitian says its because we are on liquid food and it passes through the stomach very quickly making us hungry, but this should pass once we are able to tolerate more solid food. I really hope so.

Good luck,

Bren

Joon - you are too funny! You will see your new tummy today - and you will KNOW that it does't look like pictures of stomachs (normal) that you have seen in the past. It's a very interesting procedure ... and you'll get to take those pictures home, too, to share with whomever. My PCP was just in AWE - even called his nurse in to show her ... LOL.

As for the gurgles, I seriously doubt it is your stomach growling from hunger, more likely it's a lot of air in there from surgery and the fact that you're adding liquids -- I had the gurgles for a long time - sometimes, still do, especially laying in bed and all is quiet -- Bearded and I sound like we're having a gurgling competition. My guess is the gurgling is playing with your head and making you "think" you are hungry. Stick with Dr. Aceves' post-diet plan and you'll be fine!

Tell him Susan & Bob from Las Vegas say "HI"!

ok. will do. I agree its probably grumblies from the gas that has taken such a fancy to my abdominal cavity. I need a body vac, or a gas expelling massage, wonder if they have such things here...

I am also wondering if the "hunger" feeling you have is extra acid. At three months out if I screw around and don't take my prilosec I feel "hungry". It is really the fact I have too much acid in my stomach.

If it's any consolation to you I was starving on the day of surgery! I found myself awake in my room and I thought I was being starved to death! The odd thing was I felt the hunger pangs in my esophagus and my surgeon looked at me like I was insane. I was not I could smell the food coming into the other side of the room where there was another patient, (unrelated to WLS) and the gurgling and hunger I felt was almost unbearable. I was not allowed even ice chips until the swallow/leak test the next day but I begged my doctor to allow me to just wet my mouth with the chips and not swallow. He permitted that and it helped me cope...the next day after the leak test I was allowed liquids and the only thing I could tolerate was ice chips and apple juice. The apple juice then really saved me although I can't tolerate it any more. Maybe try some apple juice, but let us know how things progress. At least your keeping your wits about you. Being pumped up with Reglan round the clock nearly drove me insane. Now I know.........thanks to you.

I bet that Down is correct--it is either nausea or acid that you feel, but it is not hunger. I vomited the blue stuff because I thought I was gurgling gas. Talk to Dr Aceves and I'll bet he will give you something for acid. I haven't had hunger yet but I have had issues with acid especially since i have to take so much anti infammatory meds for me knee. Dr Aceves told me to double my Nexium so now I am taking 40 mg bid and no more growlies.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
