Well guys, it's OFFICIAL!!! I'm getting my surgery next Monday, Nov. 2nd!! I'm so excited. I can't believe it. I'm getting so nervous too, and feeling a little overwhelmed at all the changes I have to make. I feel like I don't even know where to begin. Any advice, suggestions, encouragment??

Thanks, guys :biggrin0:)

Congrats Ruby. Suggestions - read others' posts where they have shared. Also, if you're wondering what to take to the hospital, read the thread on Dr. Aceves' information - even if Dr. A isn't doing your surgery, it's a good list and gives you ideas on what to take with you. It also has a good post-op diet if your doctor doesn't give you one (although I am sure he will). Hang in there and we'll look forward to hearing about your journey onto the losing side.

Hello RubyTuesday,

I am so happy that you are having your surgery soon. I understand how you must feel, I have been more nervous, excited, and worrying about if I will do ok with all the changes that will take place soon if I get approved for the sleeve. I will find out hopefully this week or the first of next week. The closer I get the more I experience all these new feelings and thoughts racing through my mind. I am finding it more difficult to get regular sleep. I wonder at times if I am driving my family nuts with my constantly bringing the subject up and I know they can tell I am more excited. I am sure if you keep looking on here you will find just what will help you out at the time you need it the most. Here lately I get on this forum every night and sometimes more than once a day. I wish you all the best!!

How very exciting! I think all I can really say about advice is be happy and get ready for the big change! Don't worry too much (thats easier said then done) I was told that with the sleeve your changes aren't too hard to do, just think about what your doing and the rest will come to you. . . best of luck! You'll do just fine!

I know the feeling Ruby, I am in the same boat or was....I HAD a surgery date Nov. 3rd...and my blood pressure has brought everything to a screeching halt. I have to get it under control before

I get re-scheduled. I'm really disapointed....anyway

Thinking about the life changes, especially when surgery is so close gets overwhelming. Just make a priority list...

1. gown, robe, no slip shoes, pillow

2. chewable vitimans, b-12, Calcium citrate

3. Protein powder, sugar free pudding, Jello, crystal light

chicken broth, etc.

4. stock you pantry and fridge with things you eat.

This is what I am doing to prepare.

read these blogs daily and you'll learn all you need to know.

It's tough to think about the food you will not be able to have anymore, it is hard for me, but you have to focus on the prize.

A Brand NEW BODY. I chance to start over, to make things right

permanently. Those of us that are fortunate enough to have the surgery are truely blessed. Forget about the food that gave us

the body we have now. And that will keep you focused.

I hope this helps

Judy, you will not miss any foods. the cravings go away too! I am only 16 days post and it just dawned on me I have NO craving for sugar. This being Halloween, I am so amazed. I am a sugar freak. Strike that, WAS a sugar freak. It just happens.

RubyTuesday, I am so happy for you. You are about to start a great journey. Enjoy this trip, it will last a life time. I will keep you in my prayers on monday. Calling all Angels, fly with Ruby and her care givers on Monday that they all be safe and well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
