Congrats Ash! Now next time (and yes, unfortunately, there will be a next time) when you stall, have faith that it's only temporary!

And enjoy your iced teas!!

Also, I know I've been whining an awful lot the past few weeks about the scale being stuck, but this week it moved 4 pounds down. :-)

Yeah!!! Isn't that a great feeling?

I'm not sure if caffeine is an appetite stimulant or depressant, but I am sure that is dehydrating!

Actually, it turns out it isn't. :thumbup1:

When you consume caffeine, you do pee more in the two hours afterwards, but you don't pee more in a 24 hour period. So it just changes the time you pee, not the amount.

Congrats, ash!

Great weight loss so far Ash! You are doing really well and there will be periods when it seems to get stuck and others when it suddenly seems to drop.

As far as coffee is concerned, I was never told not to have it or to avoid caffeine and have been fine!

I love iced tea, so I do have it occassionally. If I make it at home, I make Decaf. But if I get it on the go (Chick-fil-A tea is the best!) it has caffeine. Since I am monitoring my blood pressure, I have found that it definitely raises my blood pressure. I know I had always heard that, but since I am not on medication for my bp anymore it definitely shows!

Caffeine...diuretic or not...

I did some more research after McMad's post...interesting findings:

"Caffeine is a mild diuretic, but the urinary output effects attributed to caffeine have frequently been exaggerated. Recent research has found that the minimal diuretic effects of caffeine do not compromise overall body hydration status in healthy women."

SOURCE: Caffeine & Women's Health

AND

"Some research has shown that caffeine intake can also affect our Fluid balance"...(however)

"Back in 1928, caffeine was shown to have no significant impact on urinary output. Subsequent studies have shown that caffeine-containing beverages did not impact urinary output any differently than other beverages. Based on this, the Institute of Medicine recommends that "unless additional evidence becomes available indicating cumulative total Water deficits in individuals with habitual intakes of significant amounts of caffeine, caffeinated beverages appear to contribute to the daily total Water intake similar to that contributed by noncaffeinated beverages." (this is an ancient study...1928!)

SO...."I stand corrected". Thanks, Mc Mad

Ok what is it???? I am a tea drinker (about a pot a day w/soy slender) I am addicted ! Drink it in big starbucks mugs! Make it in a coffee pot put 4 bags in were the coffee goes. Weaning to 2 Decaf 2 reg. Will this really make a difference? Did everyone really give up caffeine? I like the diuretic effect feel like it flushes me out? if my pee is not dark then I am not dehydrated??? Trying to make sense of the no caffeine???

:)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
