Hello Queendiva, I see that you said Medicare won't cover your sleeve. Well, my friend had the sleeve in July and Medicare covered her sleeve. They may have coded it differently but Medicare did cover her surgery. I think if you call them now they'll say they cover it. How are you doing?

Hi Txgirl! In what way are you feeling bad? In the beginning (I was sleeved Dec 29, 2009) i really really really hated my sleeve! Couldn't get over i had actually done that to myself. . talk about buyers remorse, but i eventually got used to the way i had to eat, drink, and change my lifestyle, now i like it and don't have any problems. . . never had problems except for mental issues, but i dealt with those and carried on. . .

You're probably going to be weak from loosing all that weight. B12, keep up the liquids and Protein. Get out and walk and the energy will come back, slowly and steadily. You made a decision to eat better and do better. Take things slow :cursing:

I'm going with Dr. Nick in Dallas. Tricare refused to cover me, so I will be self pay, I forgot about the new doctor @ metroplex he started when I quit working there. I'm glad everything went well and you feel great! I'm soooo excited and ready to be healthy. I'm a little nervous about the diet, not sure why considering i've done medifast before. Maybe because i know surgery is soon. I will be checking in with you. Thanks!!

Hi y'all

I live in The Woodlands just north of Houston.

I had been researching the Lap Band. But heard this guy talking about his Sleeve, and it sounded like a much more enjoyable life style post op. My primary care Dr reccomends Dr Hadar Spivak. If anyone has used him, I would welcome their feedback. The problem is, I have both Medicare & Medicaid. I don't know if either of those will pay for the Sleeve. I hope I don't have to settle for the Band or By Pass. It sounds as though I could eat more normally with the stomach functioning more normally. But just smaller with the Sleeve. I like that the hunger hormone is removed with that part of the stomach that they take out . As well as the fact that the part of the stomach that remains, is the part that is least susseptable to stretching back out and becoming larger. Also, I have a clotting disprder and take Watfarin (bloodthinners/anti-coagulants) So even minor surgeries are more risky because I would have to go off them for 7 days. While taking daily injections of a fast acting blood thinner called Heperin. Then the day before the surgery, stop the injections allowing the Heperin to leave my system as it will in 24 hours. That way I would theoretically only be at risk of a clot (Stroke/Heart Attack) for 24 hours. It takes seven days for the Warfarin and Plavix to leave my body, and seven days of taking it to regain a theraputic level again. So I would resume the Heperin injections while waiting for the Warfarin & Plavix to reach theraputic levals. The Heperin acts as a bridge to minimize the risk. I've had 2 heart attacks. No fun at all. So I'm concerned about that. I wonder if anyone else has had the surgery having been on Warfarin and or Plavix? I look forward to getting to know you and hearing your experiences.

Evan

Hello, I am one Nutritional appointment away from my surgery. I have been going to Dr. Speigal. Even though I have met him only once, His nutritionist is so AWESOME, down to earth and most of all understanding. She is a very helpful resource. I am praying that AETNA approves my surgery. I am so ready for the new me from inside out. They say that it takes about a week for the insurance companies to make a decision so prayerfully I will hear something around jan 28th and with his office your surgery is scheduled within the next week. ]

For most of you all how long did it take for your insurance to approve it then how long did it take your doctor to schedule your surgery date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
