going from band to sleeve in 3 weeks, any advice
I had my band to sleeve revision on August 30, 2010 and I did not have any problems. I only used the pain pump the night of the surgery. I never had to take any other pain meds in the hospital or when I got home. They brought me a liquid tray the next day and I was able to drink it fine with no problems. I was up and walking in the halls of the hospital too cause I was so bored. I went to my daughter's pep rally the day I got home from the hospital My doctor had me on liquids for three weeks. Then I progressed to mushies for a week or so and then onto solid food. You can eat just a little at a time, but you don't get that "full" feeling in your chest like with the band. It is more normal you just can't eat much. I had a major last minute freak out wondering what I was doing to myself, but I had to take a deep breath and everything turned out fine. You will do fine. Good luck and keep us posted.

Does anyone have problems with their bowels?
I had IBS previously also, but I had the band done in 2008 and since then I had not had that problem anymore. In fact, I was having to use a stool softener for a few months before I had the sleeve. I have progressed my diet and I am eating all kinds of foods now, not just liquids. If it doesn't get better soon I am going to email my doctor again and ask what else I can do. I got rid of the band and all of its problems, I don't want to have another problem.

Does anyone have problems with their bowels?
I am sorry to bring this up, but I have been having loose stools since my surgery. My doctor says to eat more Fiber and I am doing that. I am having the benefiber in my drink every morning and sometimes twice a day. It is really driving me crazy. I have read on here that some people get "concrete bowels", but I am having the opposite problem. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if anyone had any solutions. Thanks

many AFTER questions
How long can you not drive for after the surgery? - I drove the day I got home from the hospital. How long were you on pain medication for? - I was on the Morphine pump for 24 hours and I took Lortab in the hospital at night only. I never took pain medicine when I got home. How long did you stay in the hospital? - I had to stay in the hospital for 3 nights. I was a lapband revsion and a hernia repair though. I also was having problems urinating on my own so I had to stay an extra day. Any advice on what Protein drinks are worth getting for after surgery? - the only one that I can seem to tolerate is the Bariatric Advantage vanilla flavor blended like a shake. Was your stomach swollen, if so for how long? - my stomach was swollen for several days. I was pumped full of fluids because of the previously mentioned urinating problem. I've read that many did not eat due to pain during the first week? - I am still on liquids so I am not sure about this. I had to be on liquids for three weeks. I have my post op appointment on Friday, hopefully going to be able to eat something.

Is dumping permanent?
Sounds fun. I am still on liquids so I guess I will have to wait and see what happens.

Is dumping permanent?
What kind of symptoms do you get with "dumping"?

August Sleevers Updates!
I am also daydreaming about mushies. I am on liquids for three weeks (one week to go) and it is so boring. I have lost 10 pounds though and that is awesome.

New to the group!
What about eggs? You could do scrambled eggs or egg salad.

18 hours post op - photos
You look like you are feeling pretty good just after surgery. I am glad you are doing well.

Tomorrow is SLEEVE DAY!
Are you kidding? Eight pounds is a lot. I think you are doing great. Good thing you took a month off. I only took off two weeks and I have to go back to work on Monday. The good thing is that I have a desk job and work from home. It should be fine.

6 days post op and need help on diet!!!
I had mine done on August 30, 2010. I am still on liquids too. Have you tried the Campbell's Soup at Hand? You heat them up in the microwave and just drink them. There is also a Weight Watchers receipe for refried bean soup. That has helped some. My doctor said I could have anything that went through a straw, but it is hard to come up with new things.

Hungry after surgery
BJean, thanks for thinking of me. I am doing quite well. I even cleaned house yesterday and made lunch for my family today after church. The hunger is getting better. I am still on liquids. My doctor wants me on them until I see him again which is not until Sept 17th. I have not always been a very good rule follower so I have had some of the "whipped" yogurt and that seems to kind of fill the hole. I am drinking the Protein drinks to make sure that I get all of my protein in but I shake it up a bit by putting fruit in the blender with it. A friend of mine that had the sleeve a year ago gave me a receipe for refried bean Soup from Weight Watchers that I tried today and was pretty good. Jello and Protein shakes do get old really fast. I will make it through I am sure, but I am ready to just be "normal" again and be able to eat at the table with my family.
