I was so amazed at how quickly I recovered. Now that am all done with the post op diet, learning to eat after being sleeved is not quite as easy.

Day 2...I feel pretty miserable today! Everything hurts like I was run over and I have thrown up 3 times, which sucks!!! Ladies try to avoid doing this! I am almost off my IV though and just starting to drink Water and tea, so I think things will be looking up from here out. The gas pain so far has not been horried, but I keep a heating pad on me at all times! Breathing is a bit easier...make sure you walk and use your breather...it hurts but most definently helps!

The incision sites hardly bother me, only the one for the bag. I am very excited to be able to move foward with liquids, though my tummy may not be! Thanks to anyone who called the room here or asked about me, I was told they were getting them and had to ask my permission, which I gave.

Take care all!

Hey girl - was probably a good thing that the pretesting for Ruthi and I took so long and we weren't able to look you up ... sounds like you wouldn't have been up to company ... so you will have to look us up tomorrow after we're out of recovery. My surgery is first, as Ruthi's will take at least twice as long .... so come find me when you can. Sorry you're feeling so bad today ... hopefully the worst has passed!

So I had the yummy one..it was not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe, but it was far from good!!! All was good with the test though! I saw Vegas angel before her surgery, but missed Ruthi. V.Angel is in recovery right now and doing well! They took my patch out so all is good except the cramping that I get when ever I try to drink anything. They tell me it is from the gas and should stop soon, I really hope so! I walk alot and do the breathing thing, but it does not seem to improve. I think my body is mad at me right now...lol. Anyways, talk to you all soon!

Oh btw...for anyone considering, I have NEVER been treated better at a hospital or been to one more clean, every one here is sooooo wonderful! Lucy and Sergio are there for me when ever I need them and Dr. Aceves comes around 3 times a day to tease me, aside from being sore (duh) this has been a wonderful experience, if you need to do it!

Are you still on pain meds? How much pain med and for how long did you need it?

I only had pain meds in my IV the first day. The other time they gave me something under my toungue for a headache. I think it was Toradol .

That leak test stuff does taste horrid but it's over with quickly. Everyone remember to brush your teeth as soon as you're done and you won't even remember how badly it tasted, just that it wasn't much fun.

I actually am still on pain meds...I have a very low pain tolerance! I can't wait to get home and get some good pain meds! I left the hospital this morning, everyone was wonderful to me. Ruthi and VegasAngel were doing so awesome, I could not believe it! They rolled Ruthi into her room and not 5 minutes later she was walking into Vegas room where we were talking! I am still in alot of pain and can berely tolerate a few sips of Soup, everyone including Renee assure me this is normal for about 1/2 of the people and give me another day or two until I feel much better so cross your fingers for me!

I just got to the airport where my flight was suppose to leave at 5 pm...I sooo was not going for that with how I am feeling so my sister and I both just got upgraded to first class on a flight 4 hours earlier! (I think my sister is kinda glad I am still hurting because of the upgrade lol)

Susan, Ruthi and I took this picture last night, we called ourselves the sleeve girls to everyone. Thanks for all the good wishes! I am thinking of you Susan and Ruthi!!!C:%5CDocuments%20and%20Settings%5CMe%5CDesktop%5Cpics%5Csurgery021.jpg

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
