Very nervous, Surgery sch for Mon Sept 30

Hi everyone, just signed up today and was happy to find this app. My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 30th. (. 4 days ) my Dr. Has me on a pure liquid diet starting tomorrow. Have been on a strict diet the last 30 days and have lost about 20 lbs due to Hcg injections and protein shakes. ( medifast) which are not too bad. Anyone out there that can give me some advice, encouragement??

Thanks! Any suggestions? What was it like for you? I have never known anyone to have had the surgery done.

Welcome! I am pre-band, too, and hoping to get my date soon. Glad you found this forum as there's so much information here. Looking forward to optimal health -- it's going to be work to get there but I am determined. This is the tool I need to get there. Best wishes to you!

Congrats Joe

I am getting the band Monday also. So glad I am seeing the light at the end of the liquid diet. Another week and I can have pudding and blended soup.

Congrats!! I had my surgery last Tuesday and I just wanna say the worst part of recovery for me was the gas pains so I would just suggest some gas relief tablets..I got walmart brand and they are chewables and they work fantastic!! I also got icyhot for the muscle pains in my shoulders because the gas makes the shoulders hurt and it has worked great! I dont know if anyone else had the same experience but based on mine this has worked even more then the prescribed pain meds. Good luck on your journey!!

Hi Amy, Isn't that the truth! I'm having my dinner tonight a bowl of beef broth ugh. Be glad when Monday is over. I go in at 8:30 am and surgery is at 9:30 am. Let's compare notes after its over! Take care and best of luck to you! Hope to hear back from you at some point!

Hi! I am new to lapband talk also, in 4 days (10/4), I will have my surgery. I'm currently just on the Sugar Buster diet and will go to an all liquid diet the day before the surgery. I have lost 20lbs on that diet. I am nervous of course but I'm looking forward to having it done.

I have to be there at 6:30. I am hoping that I am the first surgery that day since I have to be there so early. I'll be checking in as my pain allows Monday afternoon/evening. Good Luck to you too.

How was your surgery? Mine was easy through I think I need a New pain pill. I am on a Percocet and it just knocks me out for a few hours. Are you doing ok?

Hey Joe, how are you doing?

So nice of you to check. I'm doing fine. Came home yesterday and just rested. Pain in my stomach area ( of course) but the pain pills seem to be taking care of 90% of it. Walking around the house this am. Still feel a slight bit " woozy " the nurse called this am and check in with me on how I was doing. I bet I have let little " burps" 500 times it seems. What were you like the first few days/week after your surgery? My follow up appointment is Saturday with my dr and his nurse. They have all been great to this point.

Hi Amy, just checking in to see how you are doing. I rested most of yesterday. Thank god for the pain pills! I am walking around the house today and doing some " normal" things. I still feel a timy bit "woozy" Jamie from Dr Chois office called this am to check on me. My follow up appt is Saturday. My stomach area even with the pain pills still is sore. I have 2 dogs ( crazy jack Russell's) that love to jump play climb etc so I need to be extra careful around them now! Going to try some sugar free pudding tomorrow to see how that goes. As for now small sips of Gatorade,Water, tea etc etc. I bought the drops for baby's gas liquid and the nurse Jamie told me to buy the gas-x that dissolves in the mouth instead of what was on our discharge list? What are you using? Hope you are feeling well and look forward to hearing back from you. joe
