Left shoulder pain when running

Recommended Posts

Hi, has anyone experience left shoulder pain while running? It feels like the pain I would sometimes get when I eat too much...and I know that could hurt your band. I wonder if I can keep running without hurting something? Before the band, I would get pain in my left side sometimes when I started to run. Could if be the same kind of pain??

I am 10 months banded and about 2 - 9 months I got the left shoulder gas pain during a big workout spinning, running etc Now in month 10 it seems to happen less and less....... again this is just my experience :)

Are you still overweight....have a lot of excess skin, fat layers?

Although I tried, I could not handle running untill I dropped about 80 pounds, and a lot of the sagging skin......the pounding I took was unbearable....

Running is one of the exercises that will work the entire body from head to toe...including every joint.

Thanks for your input everyone! Got on the cross-trainer today for 40 minutes - no pain! Maybe I just overdid it trying yo run.

hi, i had my pre surgery consult with dr yesterday. i asked him about this type pain as i've read others talk about it. he said a few of his patients have mentioned it in conjunction with over eating. he'd not heard them complain of it in exercise and not as a chronic ongoing pain. i was relieved to hear that, walking, swimming and hiking have become a part of my life and if the band would bring pain to these activities i'd have to seriously reconsider my decision to move forward with surgery.

is this becoming a chronic thing or only occasional?

I do all of the things you've mentioned and only have shoulder pain from preexisting issues. I have experienced the same shoulder pain in relation to eating or being hungry, and once when I was running up Mt. Kilington at a recent Spartan Championship- but it soon went away with some Water and stretching. Learning some stretches to help is good, but sometimes it is nerve pain from your stomach appearing in your shoulder.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
