Surgery in 2 days... nervous :/

Recommended Posts

I'm not nervous about the lapband itself... I'm as ready for it as I can be.

Of all things, I'm nervous about being put to sleep. I have this crazy fear of not waking up. And the thought of not seeing my girls again is haunting me. I think I've watched too much Grey's Anatomy. lol

Did anyone else have a similar fear? I know the lap band is the right decision for me.. just that fear of being put to sleep keeps creeping in my head :/

I had the exact fear!!! Was banded may 29th and did fine. Just think how many of these are performed everyday with wonderful outcomes ! The percentage of something happening is very low. But I tried to look at the big picture of continuing as I was with all my health problems and possibly having a stroke or heart attack etc. that made the decision to have surgery and fear of going under all worth it!!!! Everything in life has risks but just think u are making the decision to get healthier so u can be around longer and enjoy ur family !!!! Goodluck

I have severe sleep apnea, and the anesthesiologist were both well aware of my condition.

Anyone who goes into elective surgery knowing risks involved should be a bit scared. It wouldn't be normal not to be a bit apprehensive!! But, once you wake up in the recovery room you will realize that the worst is behind you, and a new beginning awaits....

I was scared too. I was so paranoid that I even wrote a letter for my family just in case. I mean there are risk so it is natural to feel a little nervous. once you get into the room and they put the mask over your face you just pass out. I didnt even remember going to sleep. Once they woke me I was a little disoriented and happy to be woke. I think you will do just fine though. just think happy thoughts.

I go in on the 24h as well, and have nearly chickened out a couple times! If I get to the hospital, well that it's a go for sure! I got so many well wishes at church and felt so loved I think I can do this! White knuckles and all!

I have that fear every time I am sedated. I had my surgery on the 17th and I was a nervous wreck. i said lots of prayers. The last thing i remember the anesthesiologist saying is "I am going to take good care of you" and she did. I think it is a normal fear. Good luck!

I am always nervous about being put out , my doctor joked and said they don't pay him to put me to sleep they pay him to wake me up lol, didn't stop me from sobbing in the table as they were prepping me , you will be ok deep breaths you'll be done in a wink , best of luck

Perhaps because you are a mother you need to be there for your children. I know I would feel a bit apprehensive too (I am not a birth mom... But a mom to my niece) I am having surgery on the 25th. You will do fine!

Omg I feel the same way I swear I feel like I'm going to dye or something I'm so scared of being put to sleep to but all I hear is you will be fine. In my head I'm so thinking I'm not gonna wake up.

Thank you for all your encouraging responses. I had a good cry or 2 today and tried to get some of that fear out of my system.

Surgery is in just a few hours at this point, bright and early at 6 AM. I can't wait to tell you all how itn went. And most of all, I can't wait to meet then woman I will become through this journey.

To my praying friends, be sure to send one for me. Night all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
