August 6th...time for a healthy change. anyone else new in august?

Recommended Posts

I go to the doctor Tuesday for my first fill. And right now I'm discouraged bc I feel like I have been eating like my old ways before the surgery. It's just I'm more hungry right now and there isn't much in my band but I have aimed some weight I just hope he will fill it bc I think that's why I'm hungry like I am. And I pray once I get this fill it will slow me back down on eating and I can lose weight

Hey I'm not in the health field but I do work with children who are functionally mentally disable and I've been back to work since August 20th anyway just to share what I did is I have a 24 oz Water bottle I fill it with Water and freeze it..gets me through the whole day. If you get hungry between ur meals eat a snack so maybe have some fruit on hand yogurt Protein bar something that will help until you get your lunch :)

Thanks Brittani I will try that!

Well I guess you will have your hands full. Take as many breaks as possible to destress. I just had to throw up. Once did the trick. Had a srawberry banana smoothie then it went down ok. Good luck tomorrow.

Well don't know when you'll get this but how did the day go?

I pray it went smoothly with no real complications. Keep on keeping on!!

Ugh have to go back to work tomorrow. It has been such a good break. Stress free. Worried about going back and not taking care of myself. I hope I can stay on the road I have been on. I have made this change and may need to make one in regards to work.

Stay focussed on your goal and take the time to take care of yourself. I know when I was still teaching I would skip meals to get work done and pay for it when I did get a chance to eat! Let us know how you go. Good luck :)

How does your plan for you going?

Mentally handicapped children is also a pretty demanding job. I use to work or should I say volunteer at a nonprofit org that only cater to mentally handicapped adults. I would read to them and try to teach them new words. I didn't do it for long. They ran short of money and had to let my dh go. He was their computer all around man. Soon after we moved about an hour away. It was rewarding in so many ways. Now we take one woman age 30 when we have our gdaughter age 13 and take them on day trips with us. They're a joy to have around. They get along marvelously. Terri (handicapped) acts 10 but she's the mothering type. Julie gdaughter reads to her when they aren't out playing. Terri is in love with life especially when she gets to come with us.

I know it's discouraging but remember until you are at the right fill level and in the green zone you are just dieting. And let's face it, if we were great at dieting we would have lost our excess weight years ago and wouldn't have needed to be banded! I feel exactly the same in terms of hunger. I really hope your doc is aggressive with his fills and gives you a couple of cc's. My doc will only do 1cc at a time. Idk if that's normal but I've spoken to others who get 2cc's each time. Good luck for tomorrow :)

I am able to get a snack when I need too. We have a college dorm fridge in our room. But I don't snack to much if I get hungry I start drinking my Water. We have the teacher I'm an assistant and we have another assistant. And we switch our lunch times every week like this week I will take the early lunch at 12:15-12:45 then on the late lunch I go from 1:05-1:35.

The only problem I have noticed is my sugar drops sometimes and I don't usually have chocolate or caffeine on me so idk what to do about that

It was awful today. I realized I need a new job so I started filling out apps tonight. I haven't had a headache or heartburn since surgery. Went back to work and in 1 day I had headache and heartburn in 2 hours. Ugh. I feel terrible.

Stress has the worst effect on your body. Good on you for recognizing that this job is not going to help your weight loss journey. I have learnt the hard way that my happiness and health are more important than any job. I was in a very stressful job for the last two years and aghhh if momma ain't happy.. Ain't nobody happy! I was so glad to be able to let it go. We don't have as many $ coming into the house each week but I have more time and energy for my kids, myself, my hubby, and my house! Good luck with the job hunting! :)

What about transcripting. You know the lingo all you might have to do is a couple college courses or if you know some drs or someone that does that....that might work. Check into it also check into something that might have a desk job.. have you checked at the hospitals that might be looking for an experienced nurse to do office work. Just a few ideas. I'm sorry it didn't go as planned. But maybe this is the road meant for you. God Bless...Stay strong.

My friend who is a nurse does transcribing from home because she is a single parent and finds it much easier with her kids than when she was working at the hospital! Was today a better day at work?? Hope so :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
