Weight loss goal?

I have a question for everyone.... I know weight goals are personal, but do you think it's bad if mine is higher than most people? I'm trying to decide if I'm keeping myself from reaching my true potential, or if its really ok. I began at 291, and now I'm 219. I'd love to lose 10 pounds more, but I'll still weigh over 200 lbs!! Is that a poor goal?

I feel good, and my bloodwork is all good. My primary care doctor says that maybe I'm just not meant to be super small... Thoughts?

my own personal goal is different than the doctor's idea of a goal weight

i highy doubt i will ever get to the number for my height

but i will get to a number i am comfortable with and can maintain

and that number is something i am aiming for....i am focused

on gaining better health and not on a number.....

I personally think your goal should be wherever your doctor and you decide is best for YOU.

Throw the weight number out for a moment: If your blood work and other vitals are all good, your doctor thinks you're in a healthy place, and your comfortable...then does it matter what the scale says?

Do what is best for you. Besides, nothing is set in stone. If you decide later you want to lose more you always can.

My goal is 145, my advocate True Results and Surgeon is happy with progress in general but my PCP wants me at 126... that is general weight for my age and height... I think of that number and it SCARES me.. then I take a step back and think.. 1 pound is progress so the weight I've lost so far, I'm extremely happy about. The best wishes to you and the rest of your journey and happiness of course!!! Congrats so far!!!!! :D

My goal was 170 and my doctor is thrilled with my weight now because I have lost 60% of my bmi so far. I think I would like to lose about 30-40 more pounds. I know it may take another year and I am fine with that. It took more than 2 years to get to my weight. Also being almost 63 I know I will never be real thin and that is ok

My personal weight loss goal is 225 my doctors goal for me is 213... But I want to be a pretty solid 225. But, more than just the # on the scale I want off of blood pressure meds and the cpap. I'm already off of BP meds and the cpap is next!! :)

I had a kind of moving goal, my first was to get to a comfortable 168, and I remember saying that I would be very happy at 140lb. But even the getting to 168 I took in bite sized pieces, so if the scales said 178 I would aim to get into the low 170's, once I got there my aim would be for the number to start with a 16, once I got there it was for it to be under 165 and so on. By breaking it down to manageable peices of 5lb at a time I found it to be less daunting. All I can say is that it worked for me, and by using that approach before I knew it really I was in the mid 110's (though it did take 2 years! lol) and now I just weigh myself to make sure that I am not dropping too low as I dont like the way I look below 110.

My surgeon talked about BMI's etc, but as I work out a lot I can have a bmi of around 20 and look too skinny even though that is in the the healthy range.

I would say do what I did and dont really set an end goal, I was quite curious about where I would end up :)

I'm 5'5 and my goal is 170, I love a full figure and plushiness, I just want to be at a more comfortable and functioning point. It really depends, to me, on what your ideas are and goals were outside of a number - size, being comfortable, physical abilities, dressing your body, etc.

My personal goal is 145. My PCP would be very happy if I was 180. I've got a ways to go to get to ONEderland. I weighed in at 222 this morning and I only lost 3 lbs this month. I'm frustrated over the slow weight loss but at least I'm losing.

My PCP does not think I'm losing enough per month but my surgeon feels I'm doing well. My vitals are all excellent not just good but excellent.

My cholesterol count is in ONEderland, it used to be 215, my sugar is good and even got taken off of diabetic medicine. My heart rate is 70 and my BP is like 113/70, so my health has improved immensely. So that's a NSV I'm proud of. Now if I could just get in ONEderland with my weight lol!

I started at 260. My surgens office.wanted me to get down to 180. My personal goal was 140. I currently sit at 129. Your goal is what you make it. As long as YOU feel good about it. I sometimes think I went to far.and lost to much. I have had.people ask me if I am ill. I think I look ok :)

I realize I started on this journey at a lower weight than others, but still unhealthy for my height and body type. My profile picture is from the day of my surgery. I never set a number goal for myself going into this. Instead I decided I would continue to lose until my health issues were resolved. My surgeon and the nurses at my insurance company agree with me and like this approach. I hope it is effective and I'm not going about this in a way that will prove unsuccessful. I was never one to be too concerned with the scale, more concerned with the way I was feeling. When I started getting sicker and sicker, I knew I had to take action sooner than later. I am glad to see so many mentioning their health issues are improving.

I look at it as this way: whatever weight you are happy at and healthy at with yourself is the ideal weight for you.

For me, my original weight goal was 160 but knowing friends at my height and 150 is more about where I want to be. However, never having been a healthy weight if I never meet my goal I set but am the above with my emotional state and healthy I am completely content with it- whether that's 150, 160 or 200.

If you feel good and are healthy and THAT is your goal then you've reached it! Congratulations! There isn't a number on the scale that's going to tell you you've reached the epitome of what you want...that has to be based on what makes you feel happy and what you are comfortable with. I am very curious why your doc says your not supposed to be super small...and whether it was a comment like that making you think that you should be happy where you are at or if you truly feel good with your weight loss and how you look and feel? Regardless...again...congratulations on reaching a point where YOU feel awesome...that's a feeling I can't wait to find again!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
