Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?

Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning, and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day.

Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?

Hi Apples! I see you're surgeon is Dr. Choi... I just had mines done with him 5/30/13... He was great' date=' my little incisions have healed beautifully... I'm actually surprised at how small most incisions were. The port one is about an inch and a half, but it's healing nicely as well.

Let me know how it goes for you!

I personally can have unlimited sugar free popcycles. Might check with your Nutritionist. Good luck to ya. I'm on day 3. It's getting easier but not easy by any means. I'm on 800-1000 calories a day. 70-80 grams of Protein.

Hi Apple,

Everyone is different, I feel very fortunate I had no complications, and I wasn't as sore as other people seemed to be. I had surgery on a Thursday, and was back at work Tuesday (mind you, I have an office job).

The first couple days after surgery you'll be on liquid diets, which isn't too bad since you're bloated and sore, it's really all you'll want anyways.

I had a 3 day clear liquid diet before the surgery and started at 230, so since then I've lost 16-17lbs I'm between 213-214, and hopefully ill lose one or two more before my first month is up. I'm really happy I decided to do this, kinna wish I would've done it earlier.

Keep me updated on your journey!

Aimee

Thanks for all the info I start my pre-op diet on July 1st. I have my surgery scheduled for a Monday hope I'm back to work Thursday or Friday. I will keep you posted on my progress!!

Looks like every surgeon has different pre op diets. I pray we all get through ours no matter which it is! Day 2

Iam banded. Overall I'm not feeling to bad . I feel very bloated in my upper stomach area and my doctor reassures me it is from the air the put in during surgery. I should be going home sometime this morning.

Congrats on your surgery! Remember to take your time drinking your liquids. Best wishes!

Today is day 10 of my protein shakes and I'm still plugging away :) My husband and I love the Master Chef show on TV and the baking competition hosted by Jeff Foxworthy. Well, we watched both of them last night and I have to say while the shakes are taking care of the hunger, my eyes saw "all" that food and my brain jumped into gear and said "wow, that looks so good"! I watched them and reminded myself of Monday, July 29, a date on my calendar in my IPhone that says "Regular Diet"! Definitely something to look forward to and after weighing myself again this morning I decided what I'm doing is soooooo worth it, I've lost 13.3 pounds since starting my protein shakes. Looking forward to Tuesday, day of surgery. Have a great day everyone!

It is 12:05am so it is offically the day of my banding! Thank you all for letting me crash your July Forum lol:) I'll try to post after surgery tomorrow to let you all know how I'm doing.

Good Luck...you will do great! Keep us posted....Lisa

Vickie...I feel your pain. Watchined the baking show last night myself and I am on the shakes now too. It was killing me! But...we have to keep our eye on the prize! Awesome weight loss for you....super excited! Good luck on Tuesday!. Lisa

Today is Day 2 on shakes for me.....getting through this! Hope 5 days from now I am still as strong in the will power department! Come on 8 July!

Okay, guys. I'm a little nervous. I have been on the two week pre-op liquid diet for the past 8 days. I was doing fine for the first few, until I went out of town for a family vacation to the College World Series. I didn't follow my liquid diet at all for three days. (Eeeeek! I know I know) But it was a lot more difficult to adhere to the program when I was sitting down with my family at each meal in a restaurant. ANYWAY, I have 6 days until my surgery and am super worried that my doctor will open me up, see my liver and refuse to do the surgery. I have lost 5 lbs so far, down from 197 to 192. I plan to follow the guidelines until the surgery, but I'm just worried! Any thoughts?

I'm scheduled for July 15th. After I start a 30 day liquid diet. Any suggestions for someone who is Lactose Intolerant?
