  1. My band was great until I got pregnant. My pregnancy was a complete surprise as I suffered through infertility for years. I was only 11 months out from surgery and down 80 pounds. I let Fluid out for nausea issues. A few months after having my son I started refilling and long story short it was too tight then too loose over and over and it took it's toll from February to when it had to come out in December. It slipped which means the stomach comes up over the band. I also developed a hiatal hernia so reflux was unbearable. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App
  2. I am so excited! Surgery in the USA. I'm in Illinois. Mine is approved through insurance. I am a revision of sorts. I had a failed lapband that came out in December. Sent from my SM-G920P using the BariatricPal App

    Ladies: IUD

I have a merena IUD and it's the second time I have had one. I bled for the first 4 months both times. Now I get a period once a month. The first time they went away all together. I think everyone's body reacts different.
  6. I had my lapband removed in December and I am being sleeved August 16th. Every surgical team is different. I have to do a 15 day pre-op liquid diet and then 2 weeks post op. I am taking 3 weeks off but I heard 2 weeks is pretty common.
  7. Hi Everyone, I was banded June 2013 and was 80 pounds down 11 months out when I got pregnant. Long story short my pregnancy was a complete surprise as I had struggled with infertility. I had fluid let out of my band for help with nausea. After I had my son I started to have the fluid put back but it was never the same. Too tight or too loose in a vicious cycle. I was living with a bucket by my bed waking up choking on stomach acid. The band was removed in December 2015. I developed a hiatal hernia from the slip. I took a few months to weigh my options and in February decided to pursue sleeve. I felt like I relived 2013 going through pre-op requirements. I submitted to insurance June 17th and had approval June 22nd. I scheduled surgery August16th. I am so excited and grateful for this second chance. I will have hiatal repair during surgery as well. My anxiety is high this time because I worry about my son not having his mommy up and running for a few weeks. I have an awesome support system but they are not me. I got my band to assist in one day becoming a mommy and now I will have sleeve to live a long healthy life with my son.

    Life After Lapband

I was just saying I have mixed emotions and lots of thoughts. I am very thankful I had the band but I miss the tool. I am only 4 weeks post op from removal so it's still fresh. My insurance does not cover revision surgery which is what this would be considered and my budget does not fit a self pay surgery so this thought crosses my mind. Especially feeling hunger like I haven't dealt with in nearly 3 years. It's a constant struggle. I am still a believer in the band and would never talk anyone out of this option.
  14. I had lapband surgery in June 2013. I loved my band. I was 10 months post op and down 80 pounds when I discovered I was pregnant! We went through unsuccessful fertility treatments in 2012 so this was such a welcome surprise! I had half the fluid removed from my band due to extreme nausea and to have a healthy pregnancy. Life was good. I had my baby in December 2014 and started refilling the band in February 2015. It was never the same! The cc number that was golden before was way too tight after. It was a battle of too loose and too tight. In September 2015 all the adjustments got the better of the band and I had a pretty severe slip. They removed all the fluid and believed letting it rest for 2 months would correct the slip. Everything seemed good and I had just received the go ahead to refill when the reflux, vomiting and inability to keep food down came back in November. After another upper GI it was discovered that the band was not only slipped but moving as I moved. My band was removed in December 2015. I was 355 pre surgery, 275 when I got pregnant and currently 290 and rising. I go through so many mixed emotions. I'm still a believer in the band but DON'T MESS WITH IT! Get to your green zone and stay there! Don't let your band be too tight for too long. I have my beautiful little boy and I'm thankful the weight loss band gave me gave him to me. I just feel like my one chance at surgery is gone and I made the wrong choice.

    5 more months to go.

My insurance was the same it had to be timed right. I couldn't reschedule if the time went past the aloted amount. Make sure you check with your insurer to see how long you have between visits. Mine was 35 days max.

    Post surgery day 2

Completely normal! I had the same thing and it stopped after a day or 2.

    5 more months to go.

I had my 6 months from January through June. I lost 17 pounds then I gained 6 pounds back and my insurance approved the surgery. The insurance is looking more at the notes from who is monitoring your weight loss. They want to see that you can commit to a program. No weight loss surgery is not a magic wand (believe me!) you have to commit to changing the way you eat for the rest of your life. This 6 months shows them that you can do it. Just do the best you can and make sure it is documented each month and you will be fine! Good luck to you
