Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?

Got a call from the surgical scheduler this morning, and my date is set for July 11th! I was hoping it might be sooner, but not surprised it worked out this way. Means I will be starting my liquid diet while I'm traveling for work - so that will be interesting. I'm also wrestling with not having our annual 4th of July BBQ at my house (which is in a prime location for watching fireworks) - maybe I'll just have ppl over for fireworks but avoid smelling burgers on the grill all day.

Anyone else have a July date set? Wanna support each other through the next weeks?

Yea I'm not sure what they will discharge me with but the morphine def did not knock me out like they thought it would. Just had my flouro scan and tummy X-ray and everything looks good so I'm just waiting for discharge.

I'm 2 days post op and not doing too bad. My belly is pretty sore' date=' especially when I get up after sitting/lying for a while, but other than that I'm good! No gas pain yet, nausea has gone away too. I have also had an ice pack on my belly since I got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon, it's helps a lot! I'm definitely going to be keeping ice on it for awhile. The worst part is that I am feeling hungry!! I did not think I would be hungry this soon, but I definitely am. I woke up early this morning because of hunger pains and have sipped water and juice but am still hungry. Guess ill just have to tough it out![/quote']

I'm 7 days post op and trust me it gets better. I was hungry too! Because they don't fill you when you have the surgery . My band buddy recommended Dreyer outshine sugarfree fruit Popsicles ! They were a life saver! Tastes soooo good! I microwaved them for a few seconds and crushed it like a slushie. Delish

Banded!!!

Day 1 with all the hospital drugs was great!!

Gas pains hit me round 4am, they are slightly irritating. Just started my ounce of water almost threw up my 1st sip.

I haven't had the urge to regurgitate. My liquids are going down smooth. The hydrocodone burns my stomach. I haven't tried to eat anything.

Do any of y'all have to inhale in that airlife thing?? It's supposed to prevent blood clots.

Today is day two of post op very sore now, X-ray was good still have not peed though on my own. Morphine is out now on something with codine. Knocked me out thank god. Just had three sips maybe. My belly just growled im hungry I guess

Kbush do you mean the thing with the tube that you breathe in to raise the ball in the column? I don't know what it's called but I have that that Im supposed to do 10 times every couple of hours. And thanks for the encouragement! I am soo hungry so hopefully that will subside when I'm on full liquids and can have protein shakes! I never thought I'd be looking forward to those lol!

I do. Not sure when I have to stop it tho.

I'm 3 days post op.....started pureed foods today! Had eggs for breakfast, couldn't eat very much of em. It felt good to have food. I have an occasional painful hiccup pain that comes, and I little pain at my port site. Other than that I haven't had any problem!

I lost my hunger sensation so idk when to eat and when I was allowed to start having yogurt and soup, I started mindlessly eating again and now the scale is jumping up again instead of down. So I'm beating myself up.

My scale keeps going up too but my surgeon and dietitian said this would happen at first. I can't help but feel slightly like I am failing but I know I'm following my orders so it will all fall into place in time. The first 6 to 8 weeks are for healing is what I keep telling myslef over and over and I'm avoiding the scale for a while.

Asked my surgeon - he said there is just one standard size realize band and that is what I got. That there used to be a smaller and larger size and now they just use the larger. Also I have no fill to start with - had read some ppl get a small amt of fill in surgery.

I have the same band and no fill as well. First fill is August 1st.

I was on heprin shots while in the hospital to prevent blood clots and I had the bands on my legs.

It's called an Incentive Spirometer and it is supposed to help prevent pneumonia (which is a risk right after surgery.. we tend to not move around as much or breathe as deeply). :)

We are suppose to keep using the spirometer until we are breathing deeply again. Probably a few more days.

Krlawson you were able to eat eggs already! Wow! I have only been able to get a protein drink mixed with water down. I have no hunger at all. Drinking juice, tea and water. Dr said I could try some creamed soups, strained. Thinking about having some tonight just to get some nutrition in me . I am still sore and pretty tired. Hoping 3 rd day post op is less gas pain!
