Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I am almost 2 weeks post-op and feeling great! I was down 32 pounds but I'm back up to only down 28. This number is total including pre-op. I need to keep in mind that the first 6 to 8 weeks are for healing. Once I started on the mushies I started putting a bit back on. I need to step away from the scale for a while. I will need a fill. I can eat more than a cup though I not allowing myself. I go in a month for my first fill. I can feel my port which I find kind of cool. When I want to eat more I just feel my port and it reminds me that I had surgery and I need to cherish this gift!

Keep your eye on the prize !

Where is your port located? Mine is going up by my left underarm...towards my breast area...sorry trying to explain a part of the body isn't easy. I am so nervous about my liver not being "shrunk" enough. I didn't do a liquid diet although I have started replacing meals with Isopure to get used to it. Over the holiday I ate a little Pasta salad and I shouldn't have. I feel like I'm going to cry!!! I cannot think about having to be rejected because of my liver. I have lost 10 pounds on the diet I have been on since 6/17 so please say a prayer for me...God will know exactly who I am!!! I'm scheduled for 7/11 with preop 7/10. I also decided to stay off work for a month. I'm having a hiatal hernia repaired too. I have been plagued by heartburn for at least 10 years and my hernia, I'm told, is pretty big. Ok, Winkie, I didn't mean to take over your post! Sorry, I just needed to tell someone!!! Thanks for listening.

No wories that's what we are here for :) My port is located about mid abdomen slightly to my left. It was more centered than I though it would be. I have the Realize band so they were able to place it a bit lower. I had a high Protein, low carb pre-op diet. I'm sure you will be fine! Just stick to your diet excactly as you need to over the the few days you have left before surgery. Best of luck to you!

I was banded yesterday and I'm in more pain then I expected. Mostly when I'm up moving around. I just went for my UGI and everything looks good so I can finally start on Clear Liquids for lunch. I'm still really tired and can't wait to go home to my bed lol.

It sounds like moving around helps in the long run w gas pains. Glad the UGI looks all clear! Good luck with the ride home, and happy healing!

Ok so today I went to see my pcp doctor for my pre-op appt. she was so rude!! She was mad about the pre-op orders from another doctor. I think mostly because she didnt refer me, but I've been asking her for 3 years. I did my homework on my bariatric doc. She said I've had too many patients who were unsuccessful and it's not a quick. That lap band was the most unsuccessful of all the bariatric surgeries. She didnt think I would be disciplined enough to stick with the life change. She went on and on with such negativity about it.

All I could think was I'm not going to let her deter me and that when this is all over I'll be switching pcp doctors.

:) I felt having a band today. Don't know if it was the heat or lack of calories or combination I foolishly decided to go shopping with a preteen and teen age girl. Prior to the surgery I could shop for hours without taking a break to sit. Today I was looking to sit at every bench and so hot it felt like the mall had no ac. Granted I'm 1 week post op And we walked for over 2.5 hrs I was wiped out so not like me. On the positive side I started mushies and can't believe 1 egg with cheese filled me!!!! 5 hrs later a baked potato I mushed up we were in the mall and I was pressed for better choices and my Isopure wasn't cutting it. Then 5 hrs later I could barely eat a can of tuna. In the past I probably ate all three and more at one sitting. It's strange but in a good way all though I guess I put to much in my mouth and I quickly leaned smaller fork portions. My emotions are all over happy sad excited scared but so looking forward to hitting my mini goal.maybe I was a bit over zealous but I bought a dress one size smaller for my trip to Vegas in September. A DKNY dress for $30.00 I couldn't resist ,,, if it fits great if not i will return love that you have 6 months at Macy's cause I don't plan on being that size next summer :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
