How long ago were you banded? I had surgery in November and am having a glass of wine as I type. Just count it into your calories for the day.

Just a week ago. I just wanted to hear somebody say they had a drink. I'm going to wait awhile longer.

I would wait a while. My doctor wanted us to wait a year to optimize weight loss. I didn't have my first drink until 4 months postop (my birthday) and now it is a beer here and there. Like the previous post said, make sure you count the calories.

WOW I'm surprised that you can tolerate the carbonation in a beer  Don't you feel really full, and uncomfortable? I know everyone is different, but it seems like that is one thing that everyone says to avoid.

My doc made me wait until I was on the soft diet and just told me not to drink all the time or a lot because it would stall my weight loss. I don't drink beer anymore I miss it :( I stick to liquor or wine but always the low calorie.

I poor my beer in a glass and let it sit for a while. The carbonation usually goes after 5 minutes or so. No problems with a glass here and there.

I read somewhere that people should wait 6 months because some have a "trading addiction" (trading food addiction for whatever) problem. Idk if that's true, but that's what I've been kinda sticking with.

I had my first drink 3.5 months post op. A gin and tonic that I sipped slowly and go about 1/4 way through. 3 nights later at the same bar I took an hour or more to finally finish one and then again 3 days after that. It was too much trouble so won't do that again for awhile. I am not sure if I could cross addict from food to alcohol but don't really want to try. I go to enough 12 step meetings and then with the bariatric support meetings I am never home. LOL!

I'm kinda bummed about the very minimal alcohol thing as I'm turning 22 next week and have definitely not lived out my partying days yet lol. I know it's a small thing to give up in perspective but it will be annoying not to be able to have a few drinks out with my friends and stuff. Guess I'll always be the DD from now on..;)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
