Vitamins (or "horse pills")

Recommended Posts

How do you guys take the huge Vitamins that are suggested. I tried OJ, but I forget the afternoon vitamins. So frustrated with trying to remember....

Do they not have a chewable one you can take, I can barely swallow those suckers unbanded so I am getting used to the chewable one now :)

I was told by my surgeon to never take non-chewable Vitamins - only chewable. I was told they were an occlusion danger. I have found that I like the newer gummy vitamins better than the chalky kind.

These are the Vitamins I take every day....plus I take some liquid Proteins not pictured....

I'm NOT saying this is ok to do....like everything else such as eating and drinking, you need to get to know your band, learn to listen to it to know what you can and cannot do.

read this forum enough and you see some people can tolerate some things, while others cannot....

I can take most of the pills I could before surgery. The only change I made was to Calcium minis. Everyone is different. Try chewables until you find on you like. Many people like the gummies.< /p>

Where is the best place to get chewy Vitamins? I have to have 1500 mg Calcium, B12 and Multivitamin. I have Ben crushing them, but the taste is so gross!

I just pick them up at Wal-mart or the pharmacy section of the grocery store. The grocery store I normally go to is a King Soopers, which is part of the Kroger chain. Last week I found Calcium gummies, which I had never seen before - the brand is Vita fusion and they are pretty good. I was taking the One-A-Day adult gummy vitamins, but just switched to the Kroger store brand.

My nut didn't recommend the gummies because they don't normally include minerals...only Vitamins. One of the minerals provided helps control hairloss so I'm back to the horse pill variety. I take 50+ Centrum chewables. Not because I'm over 50 but because its one of the only chewables out there that had everything she recommends.

Good luck.

If you don't want to waste the pills is it OK to cut them up into smaller pieces? I bought a liquid form and it taste awful, but I'm sucking it up because I don't want to waste it. LOL They cost a lot. But they are baaaad, so be careful what you buy, get samples if you can. Bariactric Advantage.com has sample packs you can buy I believe.

My nutritionist said no pills larger than a baby aspirin.. so, I take chewable vitamins, and Vitamin D, also I take sublingual b12.. they also make Vitamins in gummies.. and Vitamin D also.. I might try those next time, the chewables are a little chalky... I never thought vitamins made much difference but if I miss mine now I feel a little tired..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
