I had my surgery this morning at 8. It's now 5:30 and I am feeling fantastic. No pain, no gas. I slept most of the day but have gotten up and walked around for about 10 mins. Should I be expecting the hammer to come down? I'm worried that it hits hard over the next few days. Can anyone give me some experiences with the post op pain and gas and what I should expect given my first day was so easy.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm really keeping on top of my pain meds and take the gas x regularly just in case. And I am using the heating pad even if I don't need it. We'll see what the next few days bring.

I felt the same way you did- I never really had too much pain and only took my pain pills to sleep at night. The day after my mom and I went shopping at Lowes and Walmart- I was tired when we got home, but I think that getting up and functioning as much as normal helps lots!

I was fortunate. I never had the pain that so many complain about. I work from home and worked that afternoon and every day after.

I had mine last Tuesday and used no pain meds. The only real pain was from gas. I found that walking was the best solution. One mile on Day 2 and two miles + Days 3 and on.

Don't put to much into the intestinal gas meds for relief if you are one of the ones who is stricken with the pain. The gas is cavity gas that is put in to make surgery easier for the doc and safer for you. It moves thru your body looking for a place to exit and most of the time it will land in your left shoulder/chest area. Hurts like hell but only walking and time will make it better. It will take it's time getting out but all the pain is worth the new life you will have.....Hope all goes well for you!!! Keep us posted!!

I had surgery yesterday...no pain from gas at all. I've stopped waiting for the hammer and have been going for 10 minute walks around the yard - four times a day. I'm super tired but only because of no food and very few calories. The massive amounts of pain I was expecting haven't come and I'm not going to waste another minute waiting for them...I'll just enjoy and you should too. Several years ago I had a laporscopic (sp?) procedure done and the gas pain under my shoulder blades was instantaneous and acute. Not at all with this surgery. My surgeon explained that they use humidified air now and this is supposed to make a big difference. It obviously does.

Happy banding partner! :D

I'm 6 days postop, I've only had minor soreness. I have felt great, went shopping afternoon of my surgery and the next 2 days. On day 3 I was most sore and tired. It wasn't until day 4 that I started experiencing pain in my left shoulder. The pain in my shoulder has been pretty intense at times, but expected.

Day two was much worse for me than day one. On day two, I had enough gas to fill up an entire fleet of semi trailers. But today is my day 3 post- op and I'm doing much better today than yesterday.

Just keep up on your pain medicines and that will hope you coast through it. Getting the required amounts of Protein will help your body heal faster. I know it's not easy after the surgery, but really do your best to get the Proteins you need.

I'm 9 days post op. The first week was tough, but now that I look back on it I think it's because I didn't eat (drink) hardly anything. So, my advice is to drink your Protein as much as you can.

I'm at the end of day 3 and I've stopped taking y pain meds because they made me feel nauseas and I can handle the incision pain fine. The gas is what's killing me now. It kicked in full force today. I've been up walking a lot but nothing seems to be helping. I feel like its suffocating me when I sit down. I really hope it starts to go away soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
