tell me about peanut butter

So I am wondering about Peanut Butter is it healthy or not and in what amounts.

And before anyone says ask your nut. I can't... I live in a tiny town 4 hours away from where I had surgery. no nut. here.

now I am going to say I have been studying on how to eat better and we (my family have changed how we eat) even my husband has lost 22 lbs. and not by dieting but because we changed our life style. but books are conflicting on peanut butter one uses it as a good example the other as bad so whats your opinion or what has your nut. told you?

Thanks in advance I really do appreciate it!

Natural peanut butter with nothing added is 200 calories for 2 tbls. It has protein but I would not consider it a lot. I was eating it but decided I was not willing to use those calories. I mix a lot of different raw and sprouted nuts and mix in my yogurt or have for a snack but not every day. I saw somewhere. That sunflower seed butter is healthiest. When I want peanut butter I mix pb2 with a little almond milk, sweetener or little honey, and dash of salt.

good source of Protein

good source of fat....but alittle dab here and there will do you

but also jif has little pre portioned packs to go that are easy

Have you checked the calories in those?

I make a spicy peanut sauce that is delicious. 1 tbsp of peanut butter light sodium soy sauce and sirracha sauce to taste put it in micro for 45 seconds and its a great sauce r chicken and shrimp. I use it with shirataki noodles which has no to little calories you can even throw in some veggies

I like PB2 (I buy it at Kroger) for mixing into things or sprinkling on apple slices. For sandwiches, I like Smucker's all-natural peanut butter. 2 tbsp on a Kroger whole wheat sandwich slim bun is a 290 cal breakfast that I can eat in the car.

I like reduced fat crunchy peanut butter. I measure and stick to the 2tbsp serving size. I find logging my food and staying very active allows me to enjoy almost anything, including peanut butter, in moderation.

I havent looked into those yet since I don't have a problem with portion control, I usually have between 1 teaspoon-1 Tablespoon, I never have it on bread, just on spoon for a snack and it keeps me full for 3-4 hours. :)

Thanks for the advise though!

Me and Peanut Butter, fahgehtta about it.

Love the stuff. Can't live without it.

And yes, I'm down 120 lbs in 18 months.

Apple slices with some reduced fat creamy JIF pb is my go to dessert. Better than what i used to consider dessert in my "former" life! :)

Which brand of peanut butter do you suggest? I'm not a fan of chunky ;)

I like PB2, powdered peanut butter. It is less calories and fat, same taste. You can get it online, Amazon, whole foods and some specialty outlets.

The Walmart by me carries it by the peanut butter about $4.50 a jar. :)

Peanut butter and a banana are one of my favorite high protein smoothie recipes, along with 100% whey....(I don't count calories)

Also, chocolate and peanut butter goes great also...

I love bugs on a log, celery with peanut butter and raisins. I like Walmart brand or Peter Pan reduced fat or the whipped.

I found Peanut Butter in the beginning was GREAT in helping taking the edge of my hunger. I teaspoon did the trick for me.

I eat peanut butter all the time.

I always have room for calories and one spoonful is just enough to curb my sweet tooth and I get the protein boost I need also.
