4 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Well I'm 4 weeks post op and down 20 lbs since pre op weigh in. I usually get my Protein in shakes (muscle milk light) then a meal or two. I think I can eat to much and bet I will get a fill when I go in next week. For example I can eat a whole can of tuna plus crackers - I moisten it with low fat mayo and some mustard. I thought 2-4 oz was going to be my limit but that hasn't been the case

My biggest take away during this time is to not drink during or after meals. Let the food stay where it is so u feel full longer!

My energy has returned and I've started light exercising. So far so good!!!!!!!

Keep up the good work. Try to limit meals to 1 cup, and go easy on crackers.

I just had to call my nutritionist because of the same thing! Its totally normal. The reason you can eat what feels like 'too much' is because you have an empty band.Once you get your fill, that'll subside. If its too tempting to eat more than you should, sub in a heavy duty Protein Shake (add yogurt, fruit, ice, etc so it feels substantial). Good work on the 20 that you're down!

Hi dsheperis. I too am almost 4 wks. post op. Same story as you, down 20lbs. since surgery on 3/11. 35-40 more to goal. I have no band restriction either. Went to app. this week but after visiting with Dr., she said I was right on track for now n did'nt require a fill now. She just said make sure to not skip the middle meal of the day an get Protein in. Good Luck :) thanks

I'm at 4weeks post op and last time I weighed myself last week I also was down 20lbs. Pretty exciting ! But I have found my hunger has increased ferociously the last few days. I used to be satisfied or even too full with 2:5oz tuna with 2 wheat thins, now I'm hungry 1 hour later for more. I have to wait 3 weeks till I get a fill.

60lbs to goal weight!!!!!!

Good job everyone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
