Recommended Posts

Since being banded on Nov 1st I have lost 55lbs and for the 1st time I have started having normal cycles. Married for 12 years have have been thru extinsive fertility to no avail and thru it all even with meds I have never cycled normal. So my question is.... Anyone out there had or know someone in the same situation and did it result in a baby?

A friend of mine wasn't banded but had the same diagnosis.. she couldn't conceive.. after years of trying and disappointments.. she said she Accepted she couldn't have kids she focused on herself..

Starting exercising, eating right, lost 45lbs...

Let's put it this way.. I am going to her beautiful son's first birthday party next month! :)

I have pcos, and after a year of failed fertility treatments i decided to postpone my dream, and do the surgery, as probably my weight was the biggest issue on my hormones!

Hopefully december i can start to try again :)

I have pcos... Before banded we so wanted a child and we thought we would have to have In vitro.... Our insurance would pay for two tries.... So I wanted to give it my all.... We had one year before insurance would pay so I went to ww.... And lost 70 pounds... When my one year was up I went to the specialist and were trilled with my weight loss and wanted to proceed with invitro.. My specialist was top notch and told me if pcos was our only problem she would have me pregnant in 6 months! Right???? She put me on Metform which is for Diabetes... Which I didn't have.... But she explained my sugars might not be high enough for diabetes... But was to high to have a cycle.... One month on the meds.... One month.... And I was pregnant!! I had a hard 12 weeks at the beginning... But after that got to go to my normal OB... In April my son will turn 9.... :) I am living proof it can happen! No invitro... Natural!!! My son is the biggest blessing in our lives! I know a lot of people with pcos... And if that is the only problem.... Every person has gotten pregnant! Best wishes... Don't give up! I'm here to say it can happen to you!

Thank you for this post. I am struggling with the same thing...PCOS, Did IUI last year. Second round conceived but miscarried at 6 weeks. My fertility specialist said I have to take off 100 lbs before we try again. My bio clock is ticking fast (ill be 40 in June) so I am hoping the weight comes off steady. Was banded 1/29/13 and from day one of pre-op diet, I am 41 pounds down today. 60 more to go. Hoping we can try again by the beginning of 2014!

So I'm a Pcos Bandster and I am 3months post op this week. I was on 500ml metformin 2xs daily but since my surgery my Obgyn advised me to stop the metformin and see what happens. I have had 2 normal cycles. Im down 25 lbs but have been stuck for a month with no weight loss!!! My 2nd fill is monday but I am soo worried that I'm not losing just Maintaining. I was always good at taking off 20 lbs or then just maintaining. I measure my meals and drinks tons of Water. Not to mention my side affects of PCOS are back like facial hair and Hair loss. I need advice...

I'm a little shocked your OB took you off that so fast.... My doctor feels its a precaution factor and to help with the sugar levels ( it keeps your body more balanced) therefore easier to loose weight! For facial hair their are other meds such as birth control...... Once your body is having normal cycles..... Your body will be in normal zone and you won't have all those side affects.

This was just a good read for me. I'm so glad to hear the success stories. I also have PCOS and my husband and I tried IUI for 6 months with nothing... My specialist kept saying it was my weight so I finally decided to put off more iui and go for surgery. I had been thinking about lap band for a while before but never went for it. I can't wait until I lose more weight and can start trying again. Thanks for the encouragement!

Althought I HATE to see so many people in the same situation as I at the same time it is comforting to know that I am not alone and that many of you have been blessed with gifts from God. Prayers for all! Thanks again for all the support!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
