Day One of Pre-Op Diet...help?

Recommended Posts

And I'm exhausted. Is that normal? It's 7 and I'm ready for bed. I was able to drink 96 oz. of Water, had 3 Protein Shakes and a Smart Ones meal for dinner. Does anyone know how many calories I need to consume before going into starvation mode? Because I only consumed 620 for the day, I just don't think I can drink another shake. Please, any advice....

Hi. First of al let me say good luck . I'm no expert, but will try. I would think of course you should feel tired. You have consumed much less calories than normal. So your body is gonna crash a bit. The shakes need to be your friend right now. I loved the carb control e a s shakes. I wouldn't worry about starvation. That's why you need the Protein shakes. But try to get one in every three hours. It will get better. Good luck and keep us updated.

You should have a talk with your dietitian or whoever is in the surgeons office and ask them.

Personally I believe if you are tired you aren't getting enough Protein. The pre-op diet is there to limit carbs and fat from your intake and make it primarily Protein, which will give you a good amount of energy to function. This in turn will help lean your liver for surgery.

But like I said, ask the professional before doing anything against their original instructions.

I am on day 11 pre op. I'm on 3 shakes and green veg...that's it! Honestly, some days will be easier, others you'll just want to pass out from exhaustion. The count down is on, only 3days to go. If anything the weeks go quickly, even though it may not feel like it now :)

Luckily I only have to do it for a week, but then I think about after surgery and how it will be about a month before I can eat real food. Boo

Keep in mind you are detoxing sugar and caffeine. Get the rest you need. It took me 3-4 fats before my energy picked up again. You can do it!

I am on day 4 of seven and I am actually starting to feel really good. My energy has picked up and I am not really bothered by the rest of the family eating pizza....but banana flavored sugar free popsicles are my friend at the moment!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
