Need some motivation!

Recommended Posts

I been stuck at my weight (-1/+1) for the past 2 weeks and I am starting to feel really tired of it.

I started a 99 challenge and have exercised the last 15/15 days. I feel better about exercising more and my body feels stronger, but no weight has dropped.

I've tried raising / lowering my calories and raising / lowering my Protein to carb ratio. I've been a lot hungrier than normal (I was eating 600-800 calories a day for awhile and now I feel like I need 1000 calories or more to be satisfied). I feel like I have no restriction and am constantly hungry.

I moved up my appointment to next Thursday, so hopefully I will get my first fill then. (My surgery was Dec 19, but they said I was losing enough weight not to fill at my first appointment)

This month I am only down 4-5lbs so far, when I'm used to 10-20lbs. And even though I've lost 36lbs not on person other than my mom and fiancee have said a word about it.

Cheer me up!

Ok...here goes my cheer you up speech. LOL

#1 You're not gonna see a scale "victory" every day or week.

Listen to what you wrote... "I started a 99 challenge and have exercised the last 15/15 days. I feel better about exercising more and my body feels stronger.." Very good accomplishment!

#2 Sounds like you are sticking to your diet. Yes, it is a form of a diet until you get to proper restriction. Very good accomplishment.

#3 Your Doctor said you were losing enough at this point. Another good accomplishment!

#4 You've lost 36#'s already. GREAT progress.

#5 Read on here how many people would be GLAD others aren't commenting on their weight loss, or lack thereof, and then then you'll realize you're doing great.

Keep doing what you're doing. You may need several fills. Eventually, with fills, and proper eating / exercise you'll get over this little bump. CONGRATS to a great START!

I started the gym the middle of December and my weight stayed around the same for 6-10 weeks. I had a fill last week and being back on liquids and mushies for 6 days I finally went down on the numbers. The exercise builds up muscle and my measurements have changed so I am fine. The weight went on over a long time and it will come off over a long time. I feel much better, just came from the gym. Good luck with the challenge.

You can't be used to losing 10-20 lbs a month since it's only been 2 months. Most all of us lose a lot of weight the first few weeks. But it's not fat. Oh, some of it is but it's mostly Water we've stored for years.

I could go on an Atkins diet today and within 10 days lose 10 lbs. But it's almost all fluids.

You want to be losing weight in the form of fat and I would venture to say you are. You're replacing fat loss with muscle gained so it may seem like you're stagnant but you're actually making progress. Just don't expect more than 4-8 lbs a month because that would take a lot of exercising and dieting to accomplish.

Weight loss DOES take time!

I know it's frustrating but 1) you MAY be losing fat but building muscle which would make sense since you're exercising so much 2) Our bodies don't steadily shed fat in normal even ammounts. You might stay the same weight for a few weeks and then "poof" one morning youre down 2.5 lbs

Weight loss is not steady or predictable, but if your'e doing your part and following the rules then you don't have to worry about the scale

My advice is to measure yourself chest, waist, calves, thighs, arms neck ect. so that when you feel like nothings happening you can remeasure and hopefully see some progress! but i think you're doing great so far. sounds like you really have control over your situation!!

great idea! My measurements change every month. Dumb me didn't start until September and I was my highest in March and had the Band the end of July. My waist has gone down about 6-8" since September. I take them the 6th of each month. I found on the internet an outline of a body and made copies and fill in the each body part.

my only tip is to keep doing what you are doing.

even though the scale may not be moving like you want, if you are doing all the right things, its working. def use your clothes being too big or inches lost as a huge motivator. you are a success story.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
