First Fill In A Couple Weeks..QUESTION!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!

So I am newly banded and have no Fluid yet in my band. The doc said this is the time to just get used to eating and getting to know my band. I am starting to feel like I need more restriction. I feel like I can eat more lately and get hungry a lil more often. Will a fill help me feel less hungry and less often?! Is this when I will really start seeing the weight come off?!

THANKS!!

For me, it was a time to get used to the band and let my body heal. I am now 6 weeks post-op and have had 3 fills and just now starting to see more rapid weight loss. Good luck to you!

With my first few fills I didn’t feel much restriction at all. I was worried it wasn’t working and that the doctor was trying to get money out of me (150.00 per fill out of pocket). After time I learned that it takes a while for you and your doctor to find that “sweet spot” where you can still eat and drink while losing weight.

I went “hard core” at a few fills so the Dr. would put more in so I would have more restriction and every time I would foam, vomit and PB all over again until I got used to the new fill. Once I went three days without any real Fluid and had to schedule an appointment to get Fluid taken out. Won’t do that EVER again!! lol

Ohh and I Don’t know if this is true for others but I have learned that right after my fill I have to eat only Soup for a few days to a week while I wait for my swelling to go down. Then I start to slowly introduce solids again.

Once you find that sweet spot you will know it.

Hi I'm newly banded to jan 16th. I was suppose to wait till 8 weeks before my 1st fill, but asked for one today. I wasn't seeing much weight come off since surgery and even gain 2lbs cause I wasn't feeling much restriction and I was hungry. So I'm on liquids for two days and hope to see some loss. I had 2cc at surgery and now I'm at 3cc. Fill wasn't bad at all. I was just nervous of the unknown lol. Please let me know how you do after.

I wouldn't expect any miracles with the first fill. Most people need 2+ fills to get there. After my 2nd fill, I felt like I had failed yet another weight loss attempt. After my 3rd fill, however, the magic started. My first real meal was about 1/6 of a chicken breast, 1/4 of a baked potato, and a couple bites of green Beans and I was stuffed. Actually, I wouldn't say "stuff" cuz it didn't feel the same as being stuffed, I just knew that if I ate one more bite, I would probly vomit.

Be patient. It WILL come. It may take a few fills to feel a difference!

Good luck!

Marci

I was banded the same day as you, but I don't get my first fill until next Tuesday. I hope it helps because I feel like I can eat more than I should and am still hungry even though I am watching my calories.

You need to get to at least the 3rd fill to feel any restrictions. Go slow and follow the rules now. It's tough but it will help once the restrictions kick in. Right now you are still swollen and healing. The fills are based on how much swelling and weight loss you have. Patience for the first 2 months is key.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
