I didn't get much sleep at night I slept more during the dsy . But extra pillows helped to support your back and stomach.

I was banded 4 days ago and sleep has been annoying. The first night was very rough. I'm a stomach and side sleeper and I was only able to sleep on my back. I woke up a lot but I had pillows on each side of me to try and help. When I layed flat, the gas pains got so intense that I woke up crying. I decided to sleep sitting up in my bed so I was propped up with pillows. Eventually I was up at 4 for the rest of the day. The nights tend to be long but they are getting easier and easier. I slept on my sides for a little while last night which was exciting. You'll get through it, I promise!

I parked it on the couch propped up on pillows with a heating pad for the first 5 days. After that I moved into bed but the sleep wasn't the best because I'm also a side and stomach sleeper. After a week I was able to sleep on my side. Hang in there...all in good time. :-)

I slept in bed just fine immediately after surgery.

I'm a tummy sleeper but a nurse taught me an excellent trick after my c-section 10 years ago. I couldn't lay on my side because it pulled my stomach and I was afraid to lay on my tummy. sleeping on my back was horrible. So, she told me this:

Laying on your tummy after abdominal surgery actually often makes it feel better. Your body weight acts like a binder, holding everything in. What she told me to do was very slowly crawl up the foot of the bed on all fours. Once I was positioned where I wanted to be, very slowly and gently lower yourself directly downward without going from side to side. When you want to get up, just again carefully push up onto all fours and crawl to the edge of the bed.

I was terrified but she was right and it totally worked. I've used this trick after every abdominal surgery since then (and I've had many).

I slept on my side with a pillow propping up my belly on the couch. The extra support from the back of the couch helped a lot.

These are all very helpful! Does a heating pad help with the Gas Pains too?

No recliner in my house so I just propped up 4 pillows and reclined on my bed. I am a side sleeper so sleeping on my back for a week or so was awkward but manageable.

I am a back or side sleeper, and also sleep with a cpap machine....so I will have to sleep in bed or move my equipment....I learned from my first c-section to my second to use a travel pillow to get more comfortable on your back after surgery. I was really okay after both of those surgeries very quickly so I'm hoping this one 3/4 will be easy too.

Good luck everyone =)

So you mean to tell you you slept on your stomach the very first night after your surgery?? I am ecstatic to hear about this as I have never slept a night on my back as I am a stomach sleeper!! I will have to try this trick!

How long until you were able to sleep on your stomach again? I am a stomach sleeper and that is what worries me the most!

I was able to sleep on my stomach after about 7 days but i had to be careful. I turn from side to side to stomach. I couldn't do the crawl on all fours method because whenever I leaned over like that it felt like everything was pulling down on my stomach and it was very uncomfortable for me. However I'm sure if I kept my hand over my port or used something else to brace it I'm sure that would have helped. Just didn't think of it then! ;-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
