Recommended Posts

I had 3 cc put in on my first fill.

Each doctor is different. It depends on the person and if you had a fill at the time of surgery (I didn't).

My first fill was at 6 weeks.

I had 4 fills in total (no defills). I'm at 7.5 cc in a 10 cc band.

Remember, 4 cc for you can be like 7 cc for someone else so that's why it's difficult to compare from person to person.

Good luck on your journey.

Keep asking lots of questions... this is a GREAT site.

If you have access to a support group I strongly suggest you try and attend as many meetings as you can... especially for the first few months

I'm not sure I understand exactly what your question is.

From your topic title I thought you were asking when you would get your first fill but from your post I am not sure whether you are asking whether your weight loss is normal, whether it's normal to get 4cc in your first fill or even whether you are stating that you got 4cc in your band during surgery.

There are plenty of very helpful people on this site who can help answer your questions if we know exactly what you are asking.

Good luck.

Oh no!!! Not complaining at all. I had an empty band for the 1st 3 weeks. I went to my 1st post op appointment today and I thought it was just a check in check up..... I was just shocked that my doc gave me a 4cc fill on my very first visit. The question was is it normal to get a fill this soon?? I just wasnt expecting it considering I'm never particularly hungry! Maybe he did it coz I lost nothing for 1 week..... I don't know!

I had my first fill 6 weeks post op and only get 1cc per fill, no discussion or negotiation on that, it is just the way my surgeon works, plus I live 6hrs away go I can't afford to get in trouble with an overfill and have to travel back 6hrs 1 way for a defill.

Don't expect to lose weight every week and maybe not every month. It's very common to go weeks with no weight loss due to many factors. Your surgeon is the only one who saw your stomach and knows how much you need. Leaving it empty gives your stomach time to heal. Filling the band with 4 CCs may not be normal but what is with the band? Nothing!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
