Psych and Nutrition Appointments on Tuesday

I have both my Psych evaluation and my required pre-op Nutritionist appointment this coming Tuesday, February 5th. I am so happy to have them both done and out of the way on the same day, but a little nervous about the 1, 2 punch. Can any one relate their experience with either or both of their appointment. I filled out a bunch of psychological testing and evaluations before the appointment was scheduled. What should I expect in the appointments? Both the Psychologist and the Nutritionist are affiliated with my surgeon's practice. Thank you for any insight you can offer!

Just be brutally honest with both of them. They cannot develop a plan that will work for you if they don't know who you really are. Tell them what you think and do, not what you think they want to hear. This is a very important part of the program.

Well I have nothing to offer about the psych eval because the psychiatrist that did mine worked at my hospital he basically asked me have I ever been abused, molested, do I understand the consequences of not following my instructions it was less then 10 minutes he signed my paper and off I went. The nutritionist we had to meet with every month for six months and she taught us what to eat and how much which I pretty much already knew what to eat just not the amount. Thats all I can offer right now. You will do fine.

my nut appt was very informative.

she went over the basics and then the band life style and went over

the pros and cons and really filled me in on why i had to change what and how much i eat..she was right. this appt was scheduled for an hr but she ended up being with me over 2. she was amazing.

the mental eval, he asked me questions, went over my history and i guess put out feeler questions to see if he thought i was stable enough to have this surgery..he stressed compliance, this appt was about 45 min.

I have my psych appointment Monday, so I can relate with not knowing what to expect!

When I had my psych eval she basically asked about my past and we talked about why I wanted the surgery, how I felt about my body and any other embarrassing topic you can think of. I tried really hard to keep my answers to a minimal yes/no but she broke me lol so just go in and be yourself. Tell her the truth because truthfully you can't have surgery without the shrinks approval. It's not as bad as you think

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and your words of encouragement. I am so ready to have these appointments, so that I know that my surgery is really going to happen.

I just had my psych eval today and it went great. My doc was so so nice! Sounds like mine was similar to CHANged's visit. He asked me if I knew about the surgery and we just talked about me. I was actually very nervous for today but it was smooth sailing! Now just for the insurance approval!!
