Need to get back in the swing of things

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm new to this board trying to figure out how it all works. Had surgery June 1, 2010. I've lost 80 pounds as of January 2011. Felt great still do, but not satisfied. At the same time I lost the weight,my knee started bothering me. When I needed to start working out, I couldn't. Went to orthopedists April 2011. Says I need a partial knee replacement. Lovely time for arthritis to show up. I have energy motivation, but too much pain. I'm hoping if I just cut back again losing more weight will ease the pain in my knee. I'm not ready for knee surgery. Just looking for suggestions and ideas of things I could try. I wouldn't trade having my band, just wish my 44 year old knee didn't hurt.

Great job on loosing 80 pounds! Have you tried just riding a bike an doing non- weight bearing exercises? Water aerobics might be more comfortable for you too. I am surprised you doctor didn't give you an injection or something to relieve some of your pain. I have a friend, also in her early 40's, that gets an injection every 4-6 months to put off the knee replacement as long as possible. Her doc told her it is a short term fix and when the pain gets too bad for her she will have to have the surgery. Maybe you should get a second or third opinion.

Have you tried the knee shots of lubricants? ( Not just the cortisone If not try them and make sure they do the injection under the ultrasound to make sure they hit the spot. Helps a lot to hopefully move out the replacement. Also swimming instead of running.

Good luck.

Arthritis just showed up this past October. Still just taking pills. Not going to last forever with weight loss and exercise

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
