First Period after surgery-awful

Recommended Posts

Ladies,

I'm curious if your menstrual cycle changed at all after surgery? I'm on mine now, and it's awful. I also feel on the verge of throwing up. I was banded 12/17/12. I'm scared to death of vomiting...I don't want to slip the band...horrible headache too..not sure what I can take, I'm not allowed to swallow pills yet..this is hell

Thank you....I really want to take something for the nausea, what is safe with the band? I heard pepto bismol has a NSAID in it, what else can we take?

Maybe try the sea bands that press on points in your wrists to help with nausea. I know they work well with me and car sickness, I get really nauseous easily if I'm not the one driving. I found mine at target and I believe they were about $7.00 for a pair. I'm just thinking if this is a reoccurring event, this may be a possibility to combat it each month. I also like the liquid tylenol and it can be found at Kroger too, this is probably the same as the CVS mentioned above, I have a hard time finding the adult version so I'll check out CVS next time.

I was banded 10/18, I didn't have a cycle that month. I figured my body was trying to adjust to the surgery. My next cycle was only 3 days, I didn't have the Migraines, backaches, or cravings like I did before.

My surgery starts my cycle 2 weeks early...awful. My cycle was heavier after surgery....don't know why or if that is normal. My PCP put me on the pill for a bit to get it under control.

Interesting....ugh being a woman is hard sometimes! I tried the pill before but it turns me into a raging beast! What do you take to help with the symptoms?

Hi ladies,

I had this same problem with my period right after surgery. It was super heavy and I was so nervous about it. Later, I found out it was from the blood thinners they gave you for surgery so it's just releasing out more blood from the thinners. Nothing to worry about! My second period after surgery was normal but late.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
