Significant loss with no fills

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has had a significant loss without a fill. For some reason, I'd like to try. Maybe I'm crazy. Lol.

I lost almost 50 lbs before I had a fill but it wasnt because I didnt want one... its because I was losing well without one and since I was just 2 months post op the dr felt it wouldnt hurt me to wait.

I haven't had a fill (yet). Doesn't mean I will never, just that where I am at now in my weight loss my surgeon feels there is no need to touch me (in his own words). I see him again in 2 weeks, ya never know when things will change....

I have been told by people that they went 8 or 9 months with out being filled. I am 2 months out am have lost 30 lbs with out a fill. I go back to the Dr the end of March. I to would like to continue without a fill. It is amazing how much my good thinking has changed. I rarely think about it anymore. Good luck.

I wondered the same thing! I did have my first fill a few days ago and made an appt in 3 weeks to get a second one. The PA told me that if I was doing ok and didn't feel like I needed a fill that I could cancel and call in when I do feel I need one. I also would like to try to do it without much restriction. So far the band has had an effect on my hunger, so hoping that will continue.

I was banded on oct 25 th and I have an empty band. I won't be getting a fill anytime soon. I'm down 37 lbs. I'm happy with my weight loss. I lose 3-5 lbs a week which is plenty IMO. If you are losing why mess with it?

I was banded on November 6th and have lost 36 pounds without a fill. I see my doctor every month and if I have lost more than four pounds, he won't do a fill. My feeling is that it took me a long time to put the weight on, it is going to take me a long time to take it off. Slow and steady wins the race!

For those of you with no fills, do you have episodes where you still get stuck? Do you practice the same guidelines, ie. small bites, lots of chewing, small amounts of food in a meal? Is there anything you can't tolerate?

I have only 1cc in my band and I've lost 100 pounds since may 2012 and actually I've spent over half that time with only .5cc. I've got a small amount of Fluid and I'm happy the way it is. I also have the plication with mine though so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Rn925,

I do have restriction, things do get stuck so I avoid them. If I don't chew chew chew things get stuck as well. I feel like I can eat a little more then a cup but it still takes me about 20 min to eat beacu I take smaller bites and chew a lot.

I'm 2 months out with no fill yet. I've lost 51 lbs. dr declines fill last month and said we'd do it this month if I lost less than 5 lbs but I'm down 10 since last apt and still 2 weeks to go until this months apt so likely no fill this time either. My surgeon put zero in at surgery so I'm completely empty.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
