My husband also asked me why I couldn't just do it on my own--he is a little scared for me, and wishes I didn't have to do something so drastic. For a moment, it really hurt me (he's been super supporative up until now) until I realized that was his issue. Not to sound mean, but my issue is my weight and my health and my future. I'm 34 years old, and I've been overweight for most of that time. He's never struggled with his weight. From where he's sitting, it looks like too much--it should be easier. From where I am, it's what I have to do to save my own life. Right now, I'm very healthy with no concerns, but I know that won't always be the case. So, in spite of his opinion, I'm moving forward with it, and he's back to 100% support. He'll benefit from me being healthier, too. :)

I just went through the same thing with my sister. Once she understood how much she was hurting me by not just supporting me she is much more supportive. It took spelling it out to her though. She has never struggled with her weight.

My date is 1/28 and the only prep diet I have is liquids only 3 days prior. What does. Everyone else have to do and why do we have to do this, does anyone know?? Also has anyone found a Protein Shake they like, I've tried so many and they all make me gag and or puke... The only thing I can manage is sugar free carnation instant Breakfast :( any suggestions?

Keep us posted on what you like...I have a difficult problem forcing myself to eat or drink things I don't really like. Does the instant breakfast have a lot of Protein?

Betsy, my surgeon only has me on a low calorie diet 1 week prior to surgery. (Jan 29). But so many on here have strict diets pre op.

I have to be on Protein Shakes 3 times a day, broths, SF Jello, SF popcycles, and Water for 14 days. Oh and I can have my 2 cups of coffee! Will be interesting to how much I lose during this time.

I'm on day 12 of my all-liquid, less than 1000/calories, more than 80-grams of Protein a day diet. The first five or six days were really rough but the last six or so have been great. Now, suddenly, I seem to have hit a wall. I have a headache and I've been really weak and tired for the past 2 days. All I want to do is lay in bed. I feel like an invalid. My surgery is on Wednesday, and I'm not going to break and eat. The funny thing is I'm not even hungry! I just feel bad. Anyone feel like this?

I posted in our monthly board but this thread is getti more action so I will repost! What are you looking forward to the most in post banded life?

For me it's being able to cross my legs like a lady, not worrying about being asked to buy a second airplane ticket and of course shopping in a regular size clothing store.

My clinician explained to me that this allows your liver to shrink. It makes it easier for the surgeon if your liver is smaller to move aside to get to your stomach. Less possibility of damage to your stomach or your liver.

This is how it was explained to me as well.

Hi Everyone! I'm getting my band on Jan. 24th in Houston' date=' Tx!! I like many of you have mixed emotions as well. I'm excited one minute and then I get nervous the next. The excitement however out weighs the nervousness. I can't wait to be banded!!! Good Luck to all of you! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
