EEK! I just had my first PB!!! (warning: gross!)

Oooooh my. Well I posted earlier about that horrible pain in my chest when I eat. Well, I was eating sushi today (I know... the rice is probably a bad idea!) and I guess I got overconfident toward the end (all had been going well up until the very last piece) and I took a bigger bite than I should have and... OWWWW! Oh my God the pain! I got up and ran to the bathroom and paced around for a while in horrible pain, praying whatever it was would come unstuck naturally. Well, after a few minutes, it was just excruciating, and I started panicking and sweating. I remembered I had read on here that taking a few sips of diet coke could help dislodge stuck food, so I got my Coke Zero out of the fridge and had one tiny sip because I was desperate. Immediately, I felt a bubbling and gurgling in my throat, as if all big burps were gathering there, but not coming out. After just a couple of seconds, I leaned over, and let out a nice petite little burp, and, almost effortlessly, a HUGE glob of some otherworldy material came up and into the toilet. Once in the toilet, it formed what looked exactly like a tornado; a vortex with a large base, and a tube with a hollow center that extended from the bottom of the toilet to the top of the water. I've never seen anything quite like that actually! It was quite impressive. Immediately after that, I felt five large air bubbles escaping and let out some big burps, and that was it! I tried looking into the tornado/mucus vortex to see if I could see what had been stuck, but all I could see were a few chewed grains of rice, nothing else. WOW! I can't believe how niave I was because I honestly thought I would never PB because I never vomit. HA! Here I am not one week out from my first fill and boom! Well, so now I'm initiated, aren't I? I don't know if I'm totally unstuck because my chest still hurts a little bit, but I think the worst is over. Well, now I for sure my band is there! No more sushi for me for awhile! It's weird because just this morning I ate a Zone Bar and it went down perfectly, and morning is usually when I get the chest pain. I guess I'm on to liquids and mushies for a few hours now!

Mine hurt a lot too, but not in my chest where I hear most people hurt. I hurt in my back between my shoulder blades, and on the sides of my waist. *shrug*

Congrats, you're "official" now. ;)

WOW! I haven't had a PB yet, but I have had everything you just described except for something coming up! Sounds like I don't want that to happen. I was amazed at the pain of what I guess everyone calls a "golf ball". Unbelievable! And it happens when I wouldn't expect it, like eating cottage cheese this morning!

Thanks for sharing! I couldn't help but laugh, because I've been there right with you!

3/23 banded

hi Sunta! Wow! I feel for ya! how are you doing? I went to my 5 week dr appt and he told me I dont need a fill as of yet. Do you feel less restriction? I have tons of restriction so far. I have a bit of heartburn sometimes after I eat.

With the discription you gave, it sounds like it should be an episode that the Weather Channel has called "It could happen tomorrow". LOL It sounds impressive. LOL

I had my first PB last week. I was eating Turkey (admittedly a bit overcooked). I only had about 5 small bites when the pain hit. Then I paced from the kitchen to the bathroom moaning like a moose in heat and spitting slime (thank god my husband loves me). Finally, after about 15 minutes, I went to the toilet, coughed and there appeared my chewed up turkey.;) I had immediate relief and was so happy :nervous

Hugs, hope it's all better. When I've had that happen, a sip of anything made it 10 times worse, so you were lucky that helped.

Nice article by the way.

That is Very scary and told quit funny....sorry. I have not had a PB yet am only 6 days post op and am sure I will definately Not be laughing when I get initiated. Thank you for the warning, I am going to be afraid to even attempt real food again!

I was banded on March 21st. My advise to you...after my almost PB experience.(scared the begeebeez out of me). Take a minute in between bites once you get to soft food. You can easily blow past your soft stop signal if you are not careful. I had a bad experience with chicken the other day. Pain in my chest, sweating, feeling like I would blow chicken accross the room..but I was lucky I chewed some Papaya Enzyme and like magic it was all better. Only lasted 5 min. But I LEARNED my lesson...SLOW EATING from now on
