  1. Hi Eyeryone! I had my lap band in Feb 2006. I have done very well. lost 85 pounds. Feel great and look great! I found out 2 years ago I had gallstones. 2 trips to the er after a holiday meal. Last month I got sick all of a sudden, could not eat, bloating, burning in stomach, burping, fullness, constant loose stools with mucus (sorry for the details) It was horrible. Well I had an upper GI, it was all normal, my band is perfect and showed great restriction. It did show "Minor Gastritis". I had an ultrasound, all organs normal, no masses, but did show "Multiple Large Gallstones" Blood work was all good but I did test positive for H Pylori and was treated for 2 weeks on antibiotics. I feel much better after the treatment but I still have the loose stools. Seems like my food is running right through me. there is also yellow mucus. My Band doc seems I need to have my gallbladder out. I have beem eating very low fat for a month and have lost 15 pounds. Has anyone had any gallbladder problems? Im going to do the "Wait and See" approach but Im not sure if i should wait too long. I have not had an attack in 2 years but the stones are present. My doc said the surgery is done by LAP and its not a big deal. Any insights you can share with me? also Congrads you all you new Bandsters. It was the best decision I made to help me with my obesity. Thanks again!

  3. I feel the same way about TMI, but we all need to share all of our medical stuff so we know that it can be common or can happen. Oh well thats what im having, no attacks or pain, just the weird bowel movements. it seems like the food i eat is just not being digested. I think i better go see my LAP surgeon and set up a date for GB removal.
  4. ya its seems like it the right thing to do and get it out now while i have no attacks. its amazing we do something to help our health and then we get gallstones!!!!
  5. yes it seems like I may have to. Did you all have bowel problems with your stones?

    what can YOU not eat?

I was able to eat just about anything before I had my 3rd fill 2 weeks ago. Im at 8cc in a 10cc VG. Wow what a change. I have been having problems with foods that I could eat before. For example, I ate an orange today, and had a hard time with it. I hurt like heck after I ate it. Over the weekend I made a Tomato/motzerella/basil salad and got a loaf of bakery italian bread. The bread was impossible to eat. I had such a pain in my chest and I think I finally realized what the term PB means. I never felt this before. it really hurt. It did go away but I dont like that feeling. I was scary. I think with my last fill im extra tight and need to be carefull. Does this mean Im getting toward my sweet spot? thanks
  8. Hi Niki, I started at a low BMI when I had surgery. Im 5'2 my weight was 244. Im at 203 now, and im a slow looser. It seem that people at a higher weight and higher BMI loose weight really fast. we will get there. Some days I eat more than other days but at 8cc i do feel more restricted. Im happy with the results and I feel that I have made the best decision in getting my health back on track.
  9. I am now at 8cc's and I can feel restriction. I just hope I can stay at this restriction to get these last 40lbs off.

    Fish? Need suggestions.....

I like any kind of mild white fish. Basa is nice so is orange roughy, and I love cod. I usually bake with lemon and dill, or tomatoes and onions, lemon, garlic and capers are good also. I think fish can be made with just about any type of seasonings.
  11. How do you all do with your band when you have a stomach virus? Everyone here at work is sick and I am also. I have the chills, nausea, just a little vomiting and severe diarehea. I have only done liquids and cheese and toast. Its day 3 and I feel a little better. I was wandering did this happen to any of you and if so how did you gradually get back to eating. I also dont want to hurt my band by not eating and a little vomiting

    Bread/rice/pasta discussion

I have a VG band and am filled at 6cc's. I have good restriction. Some days I can eat more than other days. My band is fickle! I have managed to loose 60 lbs in one year and have 30 to go. My doctor is pleased. I eat a well balanced group of foods. If I can eat bread, I will make a good choice and have 1/2 slice of Whole wheat (toasted). If I eat pizza, its 1 silce of veggie. A burger is lean meat or a boca burger (only 1/2) All of us and our bands are different. I eat good food but in small portions and find that it works for me. Maybe if I get another fill I may not be able to tolerate bread or pasta

    Bread/rice/pasta discussion

If I eat pasta it has to be angel hair (lots of sauce) and only 1/2 to 1 cup (thats it) Bread for me is sometimey....I cant do regular store bread but can do a bakery crusty bread. I like english muffins and can do them. It really all depends.

    food ideas for a vegetarian

Lisa, I will be trying the bean salad. Sounds yummy and I really love beans. Seems that you can add any veg to that also, maybe some tomatoes, fresh herbs, etc. Sounds great! My new fav is scrambled eggs with pepper jack cheese and salsa. Yum and filling.

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

when I woke up after surgery I had a cathetar. It was put in while I was under. I kept mine in overnight since my surgery was early evening (6:00) Next morning it was removed. Not a big deal. It did not interfere with my period either. I just wore a pad and some big undies I brought from home.

    food ideas for a vegetarian

In not a veg, but I do enjoy Boca burgers and Morning Star burgers. I eat them twice a week. They are low cal and low fat and are great when your in a hurry or want that fast food burger type of meal. I really love them and I make sure I have them at all times in my home. Also beans are great and filling. I love bean soup, pea soup, lentils etc. Vegtable stir frys are always a good choice also.

    Surgery and "AUNT FLO"

  19. I have the VG band and I had my second fill Jan 8th. 3cc's Now 6cc total. I seem to have very little restriction now. I can eat bigger portions and am always hungry. When will I be able to get another fill. With the VG band how many cc's can you get good restriction?
  20. I just purchased the plain flavor and I was surprised how good it was. I added some Cinnamon and Splenda. I usually don't eat a lot of hot cereal but today it 10 degrees here and I needed some warmth in my tummy. Give this a try, its a little more expensive that the Quaker brand but it was really good and filling. Heres the web site. Enjoy! http://www.mccanns.ie/

    French Onion Soup?

Yum. I such a fan of French onion soup. I can eat it with no problems. Some times I have to really chew the cheese or it will clump up. Soup is a good healthy filling meal for me. I get filled very fast when I eat it.

    Putting a Pet to Sleep?

Hi Friends, I need some advice for my mom. She has a 16 year old Beagle (Peaches) who the past few months is not doing well. Shes not eating, not drinking, moving very slow, sleeping all day, no energy, fluid in her lungs. She has congestive heart failure and is dying of plain old age. She cant even take her heart meds/ How do we know when its time? I just wish she would pass in her sleep but shes strong. How do you make the decision and at what time?
  23. My mom said Sharon Osbourne was getting her band removed, Does anyone know why she is doing this? I know she has lost 100lbs from the band?
