  1. Hi Penni, Thanks for your response! I think we are staying at the Sunset Resort and Spa. It has a water park for the kids. Looks pretty nice. It will be my first time there. We usually go to the Bahamas or Mexico. So Water at the hotel will be fine for me to drink. I will try the beer but will not over do it. So are salads and veggies out of the question for me? Im such a newbie still on mushies and ave no idea what I will feel like in July. I dont even know when I will need a fill. So far im doing well. I have been doing tuna, eggs, fish, mashed pot, cheese, yogurt. I am so worried about getting ill while im there. All inclusive scares me!!! Before I would eat til I was blue in the face. Im sure I can choose hot cereal, eggs, fruit for breakfast, jerk chicken veggies for lunch, maybe meat veggies for dinner. Can I cheat a bit on Local specialities? I dont want to miss the local soups, pastas, desserts, Maybe a bite of each to experience the island flavor. Am I asking for too much?
  2. Hi friends, My friends and I are going to Jamaica to a all inclusive resort in July. I had my band surgery March 1. Am I going to have a hard time being there? I know I have to make healthy choices while there, but I really dont want to get sick. Has anyone gone away 4 months after surgery? I know I can graze little meals during the day, but dinner may be a struggle. What about taking Cipro for stomach distress? Should I? Any advice would help be. Thanks again for your support!
  3. Great News Dana!!! Keep us posted! Im a 23 day Newbie myself!!
  4. wow thats some great food ideas! I have been doing tuna, egg salad, mashed carrotts, potatoes, poached egg, cheese, broiled fish, pea soup, lentil soup. I kind of like the mushie stage and seem to be loosing!
  5. Hi friends, I seem to be doing good. Im down 244 to 219! Very pleased. My appatite is coming back now. Im making good choices, fish, cottage cheese, yogurt (things I never ate before) Im walking more even though my larger 3 inch incision kills me! I know I have asked this before but does that pain ever get better? (Im numb at the inscision, my skin feels prickly and hurts, and the muscles feel real tight) I hate sitting all day because when I get up it hurts. I went to the mall on Saturday and got tired/pain/backache from walking. I had to sit while mom shopped. I just want to feel back to normal again. Thanks again for all the support the past few months, This site is the best for anyone considering Lap Band!
  6. Hi all I wanted to share: Sick of the Isopure drinks so last night I made a Choc banana shake It was great. I used 2 scoops (50 grams of Designer Whey) Chocolate, A little water, a little Non Lactose milk, ice cubes and A ripe Banana I had in the freezer and whiped it up in the blender. I really enjoyed it. I cant want to start berry fruit. Try It for a change of pace!!
  7. The first week was tough for me. I had my surgery on a Tues Evening. All went well, but I was in a lot of pain from my larger 3 inch incision (hand port is what my doc calls it) The muscles and nerves were cut and it was painfull. Every day got better. I took the whole next week off. I have a lot of tenderness at that incision and thats normal. The nerves make weird shock like pains and my skin is numb and feels pricklie. Everyone says its normal. It would be best to have help for a few days. You will feel better each day. Take it easy and rest. Walk when you are up to it. You will be just fine
  8. thanks friends!!!
  9. Hi friends, Im doing ok. My port incision is very tender. Im not a bit hungry at all. Is this normal? Im going away in July and would like to be able to eat more than 2 tablespoons of food.
  10. Congrads!!:clap2: Im 16 days post op! We are newbies!!
  11. the pains are normal, the doctor said they are healing pains and scar tissue/nerve endings also coming back to life.
  12. Thank you Sunta, Glad to hear that your doing well also! I look foreward to that pain going away. I walked for a bit at lunch today and now I really hurt. I kind of walkd like an old Lady! My swelling is still there also. Just a few bites of food is all I can eat. How is your mushies going?
  13. Hi friends, went to my Family doc yesterday and my blood pressure was 110/78! Wow it was never this low. He was happy. Im doing well, eating eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, tuna, oatmeal. I get full very fast. Drinking Crystal Lite and Isopure. Having problemd getting in all the protein but Im trying. My 3 inch incision is healed well, but I am still swollen in that area and have muscle/pulling pain. Will that ever go away? Of course I think the worst and I will have this pain and swelling forever......I just want to get better. I get pains in that larde incision area and the nurse said its normal healing pains. Sometimes they are quick sharp pains, she mentioned scar tissue can be forming. People at work here said of you look like you lost weight, your face is skinny! Wow that was quick. I really cant wait to start excersing because I really have a fat upper and lower belly that really needs to shrink. I hope all who have had the lap band are doing well!
  14. Hi Bella, Its a great feeling! Im down 18lbs 13 day post op!
  15. it is a great feeling to eat so less, granted this will change since im only on day 13. But just the little bit of food and im stuffed!
  16. no they said mine is at the small incision to the left of my belly button, the large one was the main working incision where dr put his hand in and the camera! Im on mushies now and its amazing to eat only a few bites of tuna and be full, such a great feeling. My small incisions are all good, except one that has a larger scab that gets soft and falls off, dr said it will heal just let it alone. He pressed my belly to check for fluid and didnt find any so the swelling must be from the cutting and trauma itself. Im back at work today and just went for a slow walk around the building, its feels so tight (inside muscles of Large incision)
  17. my largest incision in dry, looks good and clear, but the swelling on my right side.....oh boy, it reminds me of a conehead just on my right side! Tender to the touch!
  18. maybe pins and needles is a better way to explain it. The pulled muscle pain is there along with the swelling and numbness. I guess this is part of the healing process.
  19. its so nice to hear from people who have had this and know what is is, makes me feel a bit better!
  20. Day 13 and still am swollen and very tender. Now I have tingling, razor sharp skin pains in my large incision. Anyone else have a large incision like I do? My Dr said All went well and this is the incision where the camera, and his hand goes in to do all the work. Of course this is where I have all the muscle pain and tenderness. So far eating small meals, quite tired, but feel good.
  21. its amazing to feel lighter after 11 days. I seem to be doing well. Tonight is the first night I went out for 2 hours. We went for a long walk and to GNC for more ISOPURE. Well the truth is I feel so tired and run down, not a bit of energy. Im still slow walking since my tummy is swollen and tender. Im hoping that this is normal. Im taking all my vitamins and getting in my mush foods. Some people say surgery itself will run you down. I just want to start to get active, But am I really rushing things? Sorry for all the questions but this is all so new to me and I have learned so much in the past few months and thank you all for you support to my daily questions!
  22. Hi friends, Im 11 days post op eating mush food now. My stomach (right hand side where larger incision is) is pretty swolen. I was at the doctor yesterday and he pushed and felt for fluid. None to be found. He said this is the inscision where all the work is done and it takes the longest to heal. Im still tender there and a bit of muscle pain. My inscision is dry and looks great. Did anyone have swelling there? How long before it goes down? Should I use Ice, heat? Its so weird to look at since my left side looks normal but the right looks much larger. Over all im doing well, heading to work on Monday and eating small mini meals
  23. hi friends, i seem to be doing better and moving around better. I plan on going back to work on Monday. The only thing is Im not hungry, not at all, Im doing the best to get my liquids and protein in buts its very hard. Will I ever get hunger back? I dont like this feeling of being full all the time, it seems to be worse in the am when I get up. I hope that when I get to mush food this will bring my appatite back somewhat. Also, my larger incision is healing nice, no redness or infection, but its pretty tender and also very swolen. Is this normal? seems like my stomach is bigger now than before the surgery. I still have the hiccups and keep burping, not sure what that is either. I hope get to feel normal again and can go out with friends and eat small portions of heathy food. I dont want to have this restriction the rest of my life. Anyone experience this?
  24. hi friends, I seem to be doing ok, just a bit down. the pain (muscle pain) near my 3 inch incision is a killer. It seems to be getting better, but it really takes your breadth away. I seem to get that heartburn feeling in the chest if I drink too much and I see to be not hungry in the am. Overall I feel ok, I bit tired but ok. I decided to take all of next week off since I have this terrible pulled muscle pain. Does it ever get better? I hate looking like a hunchback when im walking. And I really dont want people at work to see me like this. My doc said the pain is normal, the large incision is where everything was done, port, stitches, his hand was actually in there, so that explaines it. Overall i feel good, I just want to feel great!
  25. Hi friends, surggery was at 5:00 on tuesday. I alll went very well. I have a few small incisions and one 2 inch one going down to the right of my belly button. I have to tell you the pain surrounding the larger incision is terrible. Its impossible to get up from bed, or a chair, it actually takes your breadthh away. Its also swollen in that area. The doctors said the pain is all muscles. Yes it feels like I did 6,000 sit ups. I was very worried abbout that but they said it will get better. Its only been 3 days and im such a big baby. I never had any surgery before so I did not know what to expect. Its hard for me to even cough. Have any of you hhad this severe muscle pain? Im taking next week off of work to rest up since there is no way I could return on Monday. I Know I made the right decision but wow the muscle pain in that area is pretty painfull and hard to get up and down, foreget about bending, and the swelling. Am I just being over worried? Is this to be expected? The doctor said i will be fine but I get paranoid.
