How much weight did you lose pre-op?

Recommended Posts

Hi There

I'm just curious how much weight you lost pre-operation on the liquid diet.

Thanks

Jen

It seems like people lose a lot before and not so much after. Is this correct

Everyone is different. You lose a lot before because your calories are very restricted. Right after you are healing so it slows down and then you just need to follow and it will be slower buy consistent and healthy

I did not lose much compared to others, since I half-assed it. I think I lost about five pounds in the three week period.

Does that basically mean you cheated during the two weeks? I'm scared to death of the whole process but excited at the same time ago. About seven years ago I was up to 336 pounds and now 255 and it hasn't changed. The band is my last resort.

My surgeon did not require a liquid diet pre-op he uses the sugar buster diet for 2 weeks....not going to lie I did cheat a time or two on it and lost about 5 lbs preop, I was banded 12/20 and I'm sure most of it is Water weight but I'm down 7lbs.

It's so individualized... I had a bunch of weight to lose. I think the 22 I lost pre op was all Water and salt retention....lol. I lost another 21 in the weeks of post op liquids before I moved to mushies.... And honesty when I averaged it all out it worked out to 10 lbs a month. Some months were 5 lbs and other 15.... There was no rhyme or reason with it.

Definitely not. I didn't have any pre-op diet at all, but I've lost a lot of weight in 11+ months since surgery.

How much you lose is directly equal to how much work you're willing to put into it.

I think the liquid portion of the diet will be the easiest for me. It will be getting all my Protein in.

I only had to stick with an 800 calorie a day diet, for one week prior to surgery. They wanted us to lose ten pounds.

Yeah, I did cheat, but my pre-op diet wasn't very strict and, despite being morbidly obese, my liver and health stats were fine. Also, when I say that I cheated, I wasn't going crazy. I never really drank pop or sugary juices even before then, and I didn't eat much junk food that week. I just ate larger portions than prescribed some days, and ate solid food up until maybe three days before the surgery. If you're genuinely cheating, eating greasy foods etc, and you are at risk of having a fatty liver, you might be risking your surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
