Soon to be banded...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My name is Mandy and I'm 31 years old. I'm married, and mom to 3 daughters. I began the process to have the lapband in March of 2012, and completed all requirements in November. I received my insurance approval after only 7 days, and have been given a surgery date of February 1st....seems sooo far away, but it will be here before I know it!! Looking forward to this journey, and following others who are on this same journey as well.

Good luck Mandy. This is a good forum for the most part and you can learn a lot between now and February!

Mandy, this is an excellent time to start by eating smaller portions and better choices. Try and buy some different Protein Shakes to you can try a few out prior to you having to use them. I went into my pre-op diet 2 months and counting and this made it lot's easier to adapt to a new style of eating. Since I wasn't a big "gym" person, I knew it would be difficult over a long term to not exercise very much and see the results I wanted. So, I ate 2 Protein shakes for Breakfast and then lunch, and a simple diet plate or salad with broiled chicken/fish/some steak at dinner. I lost 34 pounds by just changing my eating habits. In fact I was so successful, freinds of mine said Why the band? I almost didn't go through the surgery. Knowing the yo-yo affect over my lifetime on diets, I did get banded on Aug 6.

I must say, it's be easier for me so far in being banded because of the slight restriction I have, but its the new eating habits obtained and selected by me over a longer time that has made it easy. Please start ASAP and get mentally prepared so when you do have to fast, or go to liquids only your stomach will be already smaller.

Best wishes and Keep the Faith

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
