Hi. I'm new to this website and anxious to get to know everyone. I've done all of the testing and am now waiting for insurance to approve it. I have 150 lbs minimum to lose. I know it won't happen over night and it's a lot of work. I've failed at so many attempts to lose weight so I'm hoping the lap band will be an effective tool to help me achieve my goals. I just have to get my mind and body to work together. Speaking of that, I vaguely remember someone telling me about a 12-week program to change your eating habits. It was a website and you had to sign up and pay to participate. Does anyone know about that?

Welcome prairinedog! You are not alone in the fight of dieting. We all have had Yo-Yo diets lose weight look good then gain it right back. The band is just a tool as stated over and over. WE still have to make the right choices in what we put in our mouths. The fills restrict the opening into ther stomach and you feel full longer so you don't eat as much. We all have to learn to eat Protein foods first, then the rest.

You are doing the right thing for yourself. There are lot's of people here who can help answer your questions. Remember, NO question is dumb, so ask away. New awareness will be obtained by asking of questions. I DID the RIGHT thing on Aug. 6, 2012 when I got banded

Best Wishes and Keep the Faith.

Welcome!! You will get a lot of info from your dr so I personally wouldn't pay anyone to change my eating habits. And since i needed to lose 227 lbs i had alot of changing to do.

The band is a wonderful tool. If you follow your drs advice, do not cheat and track your calories your eating habits will change.... And when you are post op... 3 or 4 weeks of liquids and mushies will give you the results you need to be motivated to eat like a bandster. Not saying this web site doesn't have merit... I would just learn to work with your band and let it help you find the thin person hiding inside.

I am also very new to this forum, I am so afraid, nervous and excited all at the same time. I feel like this is my second chance at doing it the right way and I am so very thankful for that. I know its going to get very difficult at times but it feels so good to know that i can come here to the forum and read some of the stories and ask questions about some of the situations I will either experience or have already experienced. This journey will not only be a little difficult one, but a rewarding one as well. Its good to know when you have supporting friends and family that are willing to stand behind you and cheer you on to succeeding to my desired weight goal!!! My goal after its over and done with, is to participate in a marathon, I've only dreamed of trying out and honestly I've never thought I would EVER be able to do it!! I felt like I would've had a better chance of going to the moon!!! But my attitude has changed, and I am going to do it!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
