I am almost a week out of my surgery date and I am so hungry! I have adequate Protein intake and try to keep busy but when inlet myself think....all I can think of is how hungry I am! I just want that feeling to go away :( what else can I do? I'm still in my liquid phase obviously and a person can only eat so much Soup and broth!

Can you go back to your Protein Shakes, get more Protein you. Are you on full liquids........can you have greek yogurt? Add blenderized cottage cheese to your soup.........more protein.

I'm in the same boat! I'm 5 days post op and only able to "eat" approximately 1/4c of thin cream of wheat or Soup but find I get strong hunger signs about 2 hrs later even after hydrating. I made instant mashed potato soup today which was pretty tasty and filling. It makes a lot of servings so I froze half. Here's the recipe if you would like to try!

1 4oz pkg of instant mashed potatoes (any flavor)

2c milk (I used skim plus)

1.5c reduced sodium chicken broth

1/2c shredded cheddar (it will melt smooth)

Bring milk and broth to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in potato flakes. Stir in cheese til smooth. Add milk or broth to individual servings til desired consistency based on stage.

Sounds good! I will have to try! I want to get in the right mindset now so that I have success in the future. I can't wait until my surgeon says I can go back to the gym even if its light stuff!

You need to be eating things that are high in Protein that will keep you full. If you make Soup add protein, perhaps blenderized cottage cheese. smoothies with protein powder...........get the protein in. Cream of wheat is not on the full liquid plan. You are almost half way thru the liquids............keep going.

I'm just following my Dr.'s orders for full liquids which include Protein Drinks, thinned farina or cream of wheat, and any smooth Soups (as well as all clears). I was instructed that during thirst very early stages, it is more important to maintain adequate hydration than focusing on the addition of Protein to meals. I buy Unjury protein which I use in crystal light as well as chicken broth and skim plus milk. As always, everyone should follow their own physicians orders.

Hang in there ... you can do !!! Drink some Crystal Light ... you might actually be thirsty ... sounds weird ... but sometimes we confuse that with hunger :/ Also... when you get the head hunger ... start doing something to get your mind off of it... it usually takes about 20 mins to not think about it anymore (the feeling will pass).

liquids was the toughest part for me too. Just remember what your overall goal is. You were strong enough to make this life changing decision, let that strength carry you through this rough patch. It sucks right now but stay on plan and it's totally worth it! Drink lots of water! You got this!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
