Just Got My Band! Looking For Motivational Friends!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I just got my band on 10-10-12 and I am looking for some online support! I have support from my family but its a stressful time as my husband just deployed. I am having a hard time feeling full unless I just drink ALL day and then I feel bloated and sick. Is this normal? I go for my post surgery appointment on Thursday

Remember you just had the surgery and there is nothing in your band. Normally they do not put any Fluid in your band for 6 weeks. I know, that is not what you wanted to hear. This process takes time and patience. Your body has to get used to this new thing inside your body. I thought I really understood how the band worked until I got my first fill at weeks and had to really chew my food for the first time. Before your first fill it is not uncommon not to lose weight and to not fill full between meals. My best advice is to drink Protein, Protein stays with you longer and makes you feel full longer. I purchased unflavored protein and added it to my cream Soups and yogurt in the beginning so I would stay full longer and get in enough protein. Keep blogging and stay active on the site. I am two years out and still find this site to be helpful and motivating, I think of it like AA, I need the support of the people on this site to help me stay focused and what better way to stay focused, Help others be successful.

On a second note, prayers to you and your family, so sorry your husband has been deployed. I can not imagine how stressful that is for you, I am so thankful for people like your husband who protect our country.

First off, I want to say thank you to you and your husband for his service to our country. God Bless him and everyone of our troops!

Second of all, I echo the previous poster who said that this is your time to recover and heal. I just had my surgery not even 5 weeks ago. The most important thing you can do is just rest, recover and follow your Drs orders to the best of your ability. Every day will get a little bit better and in a few weeks you will be back to yourself. Make sure you are:

Walking

Drinking

Having your Protein

Tracking your food and exercise to be accountable

Taking your meds if you still have pain

Remember- this is a process and I have seen that it takes a lot of patience. Take care of yourself. Remember to call your doctor if you have specific questions.

Best wishes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
