Hashimoto's Disease

Recommended Posts

I have Hashimotos's Disease. It is a auto immune disease that attacks the thyroid making me hypothroid. Im on medication and my levels are normal. Unfortunaly through my battle with the disease I have gained 80lb that is impossible to get off. I guess my question is anyone I have this disease and still had the lap band and was able to gain success with it ?

If your levels are normal thanks to medication, I don't see why Lap Band wouldn't help so long as you're willing to change your diet to make it work. It's an excellent tool and I think it could probably help you considerably.

If you do get the surgery, I would just be sure to keep a close eye on your levels throughout your journey just to make sure they don't stray from normal.

Best wishes with whatever you decide!

I have hypothyroid as well and will be banded on Oct. 19th. I wouldnt be doing it if my dr. thought my thyroid would be a problem. He says we will probably have to adjust the meds as I lose weight.

I also have hypothyroidism. I am losing weight now, not as quick, but a lot has to do with all of my meds. I am ok with that.. some progress is better than none for me!

Thanks Ladies for you positive thoughts! One of the many reasons why I love this site! I'm getting my band hopefully in December. Fingers Crossed. :D

I also have hypothyroidism and have lost 56lbs so far. I think the key is having it well controlled with medication. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
