So Confused??? & Discouraged...

Recommended Posts

Ok so today I thought was going to be the first time I get a fill but to my surprize they informed me that during surgery they put in 1.5cc & I was never informed of this... my surgery was July 23 & to be honest I haven't felt any restrictions I also have gained weight since then...

has anyone else had there band filled during surgery???

I'm just frustraded that they did not tell me... I got a fill today & I'm at 3cc hoping I see some restrictions...

Also can someone kinda tell me the purpose of liquid diet after the fill??? My doctor rushed out of the office before I can ask... thanks everyone :)

The purpose of the liquid diet is due to swelling that happens after the fill. You don't want to try and push solid food through a smaller hole. More doctors now are putting a small fill in during surgery. As to restriction not to be a downer but don't expect any. Took me 6 months before I got to restriction. This is a will power diet for now. If you haven't already done so buy a digital food scale and start weighing your Protein. If you don't measure you WILL over eat.

Thanks for the info...now I'm able to understand more...this process is just harder & more compicated than I thought....I'm really hoping it doesn't take me 6 months....I'm hoping to lose half of my goal weight in 6 months...I hope to feel something soon maybe then I wouldn't feel so disappointed & regretful...

I had my surgery in late July and have had problems with getting fills but I have kept myself on a strict diet. My fitness pal has been a great help here. I don't know what your goal weight loss is but I would say from everything I've read 6 months is to fast. My doctor told me to lose it slow it's better for you in the end. I would say a goal of 2 pounds per week is manageble. I finally got a fill and can feel some difference but having to teach myself what not to eat (like at lunch I got stuck) and how to eat very slow. Sometimes I get frustrated but in the end I know it's worth it. Hang in there!

Hi there- I was banded in January 2012 and just met my halfway goal, so 6-8 months may be possible to lose half- I lost 77 lbs, 77 to go! I have a 14 cc band and had 5 cc's put in at surgery. I've had several fills, and finally at what I consider good restriction, but have lost all the way along, even without perfect restriction. I do count calories- anywhere from 1000-1300, sometimes more (my Sunday cheat day is usually more). I use myfitnesspal also. I also exercise at least 5 days a week for at least 45 minutes- usually the elliptical or zumba.

It's work, no lie, but it is SO worth it!! I have not lost this much weight in a short amount of time, and know I can KEEP it off!

Banded Feb 2012, down 66lbs with 24 to goal. I also eat about 1200 calories, track them on myfitnesspal, exercise at least 5 days a week.... Wow Nicki we could be twins. Lol.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
