What are these Vitamins that everyone is talking about? Are they something I'm supposed to be taking now or after surgery? And are they supposed to be liquid as well? Does anyone have a recommendation as to what brand they use and where they get it from?

DeShawn

I take Vitafusion Multi Vites gummy vitamins 2/day and Vitamin B 12 (they melt in my mouth). Some people take a Vitamin D. In the beginning it may be hard for you to swallow large pills, you may have to break them in half or if you are scared like I was in the beginning take liquid. I am 2 years out and I am just starting to take small whole pills. Good luck to you on your journey.

My Dr. Told me to take two Flintstone chewables believe it or not. I don't care for them and at my next apt I am going to ask if I can crush my regular Vitamins (one a day). I think it is up to your Dr.

I take two adult gummies every day and a Vitamin D. I live in MN, land of the long winter, so like most Minnesotans who stay inside and covered up for most of the winter, I am deficient!

Your nutritionist or surgeon should be talking to you about Vitamins before surgery. I myself take a liquid Multivitamin (the pill forms make me so nauseated no matter what I do), liquid vitmin D, liquid Vitamin B, and then a capsule of Biotin. I mix the Vitamins with equal part pure fruit juice and take them at night.

I could probably switch to pill form and not do the liquid, but I got so used to the liquid after surgery I just kept with it.

I take adult gummies, too! And I ,also, take a Vitamin b-12 which melts under your tongue. You can try liquids but I don't like the taste, myself. Best wishes to you on your future lapband. Karen

My nutritionist was strongly against Gummy Vitamins. She had valid reasons - 1) some have trouble post-op with the texture, and 2) most (not all, but most) have a sugary coating or a fair amount of sugar to make the taste acceptable. She pointed out that your Vitamins should not be loaded with carbs or calories.

I had been taking gummy vits for years before she pointed that out. I never noticed that my gummy vitamins were 15 calories a piece. Add in the two Viactiv chews I was taking at 20 cals a piece, and that was 70 calories a day in just my supplements. It may not seem like much, but I do a 800-1000 calorie a day diet and I have to make those calories count!

You have valid points. To tell the truth though, I don't mind giving up 40 calories a day for my gummies and Calcium chew. Takes care of my sweet craving. And I've never had any problems getting them through my band. To each his/her own!

I had to hide my Gummy Multi Vitamins from my teenaged boys...they treated em like gummy bears! The Vitamins do taste great though.

I was told no gummy vitamins (not as high in Vitamin content and can cause issues). My surgical handbook recommended Centrum chewables, which I have been taking for a couple months. Prior to the Centrum, I tried the O-Purity band Multivitamins but found they were too sweet.

Just make sure to discuss with your nutritionist/surgeon what they prefer you take. It is important to take multivitamins because it is a lot harder to get all the proper Vitamins from such a small diet.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
