Ate like crap yesterday! I don't have any Fluid in my band yet and I took full advantage yesterday. Today is a new day, but why did I do that!? Grrrrrr!

It happens. Just keep moving forward. We all make poor choices now and then and it is ok. Just don't do it every day!

I know the feeling.. I was banded on 8/1 I have been really struggling for the last 2 weeks. I feel like I didn't even have any surgery done. I go for my first fill tomorrow. I am hoping that I will have some restriction then so I can really begin this journey. Good luck!

Unfortunately very few people feel restriction with their first fill. Most doctors do very gradual fills, because there is swelling and irritation around the band when it's filled, hence the liquid and mushy stages after fills. The worst thing a doctor can do is put in too much at one time and then you end up where you can't eat or drink and have to have a large unfill and start the gradual fill process all over again. Everyone's process is individual, but it took me three fills to reach any kind of noticeable restriction and the fourth fill until I was in the "green zone"!

Only you can answer your question. If you don't already have one, start an emotions and food journey. Write out what you ate, felt and what was going yesterday. There is often a trigger that occurs when we do this. I found that eating during family functions is a trigger for me. I am self conscious when I'm only half done with my meal and everyone else is finished. I then don't finish my meal and start snacking on junk.

Put the day behind you as a learning experience. Like you said today is a new day. We all have bumps in the road. You will do great. :-)

Nutritionist told me to do this same thing.

Journal why you ate, what you ate and how it made you feel. Not only good for emotional eating, but if a certain food now makes you feel gassy or nauseous you will be able to identify what food that was and be able to avoid it.

You are still in the process of adjusting to a new lifestyle...and actually it's just about impossible to be 100% diet compliant every day. The most important step you have taken is your awareness that you did not comply with what you know you are supposed to do, and seem willing to make the effort to correct yourself and get back "on track". I was without a fill for 14 weeks post op, and it's essential that you develop some coping skills to facilitate your diet compliance. Restriction in your band will not help you make better food choices, so having the coping skills in place will be part of your success with weight loss.

It's essential that we understand our unique "triggers" to what makes us lower our defenses and will power to allow for cheating on our diets. Then if we are confronted with that situation again, have a different set of coping skills to substitute for poor food choices.

I have come to realize that stress causes me to want to cheat on my diet...so I use distraction to focus on other things than eating. I have even gone to the mall at times to look at smaller sizes and it has helped my mood to look at what I have to look forward to when I'm at my goal weight.

Tomorrow does come with a "reset" button...just try not to use it too often.

Best wishes for your success...

I'm so thankful for your post and all the responses. I was on vacation the last 5 days and wasn't always a good girl with my food choices. I know what I need to do and tomorrow is a new day. I just needed to see I am not alone. It was a huge family vacation and my family are huge eaters. At times it was super easy but there were those times it was super hard. I'm just glad we all don't live together!!! Thanks again for your post and all the wonderful responses!! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
