One Week Post Op Follow Up!

Recommended Posts

It has been one week since I had surgery. I was nervous about going to the follow up appointment. I've been feeling pretty depressed and just not very positive the last few days.

This appointment was exactly what I needed! They took the tape off and the incisions are all looking good. The huge incisions for the port looks nasty to me, but apparently to them it looks good, so we'll go with that. :P

I am down 16 lbs in the last 3 weeks. There is still a lot of swelling around the port, and it's still really sore. The best part of the appointment was being told I can move on to soft/pureed foods!! Part of the depression I think was just getting so sick of Soups and liquids. Of course I can't go all out, but potatoes and cottage cheese are like Heaven to me right now! I was so happy to get to eat a banana, it's crazy how happy it made me. I go back in 5 weeks for my first fill. She told me not to worry if I come back then and am only down a couple of pounds, since there is still a lot of healing to do. I don't think I'll be happy if that happens though. I realize it takes time, but I hope to see more than 2 lbs in the next 5 weeks! :)

My worst days were days 5 and 6. I wanted food so bad and couldn't stomach the shakes anymore. It really starts to get to you after awhile...believe me, I know!! Good luck to you on your journey.

Thanks, Tricia! The shakes and the Soups just get old so fast. :(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
