Rochester Ny Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I'm wondering if there is anyone here who lives in Rochester and has input on area doctors? Also, if anyone has Aetna U of R insurance and knows if they pay for lap band surgery? I am in the beginning of my journey-been thinking about it a long time, but only now have I really set my mind on it. I see my primary doc on Friday. I'm sure she would recommend someone, but curious as to other peoples' experiences.

I had my surgery ay Highland Hospital and my doctor are Bariatric Surgery Center (Drs. OMalley, Johnson and Forbes).

I recommend this practice.

Important for you to get answer FROM Aetna whether they cover your surgey bc policies vary state to state and depends where your plan is administered. So, call Member Services at Aetna for that answer.

Since I wrote that first post I decided to go through The Highland center, per my primary's recommendation. So far I have had the initial seminar, the nutritional seminar and the first 1:1 with the nutritionist. Aetna requires 2 more. I also had my initial visit with the NP. She asked me to also consider the sleeve, or to at least research it. Not sure that's for me though. So far I'm very happy with them. Aetna does say they cover the surgery. So things are coming along! :)

I had RNY I'm 2004 with O'Malley. Things weren't working. I lost weight but was still obese. I went to O'Malley for help and be said "I did my job now it's up to you to do yours" after a few years of believing him and beating myself up, it was obvious he dismissed me. I went to see dibenedetto at RGH and he did a full work up to see what was going on in there. He found my stoma was too large so he put in a lap band. I feel so much better! While I don't like dr dibenedetto's bedside manner, I appreciate his honesty and thoroughness. If you can get past his rough exterior he's an excellent surgeon. Compared to my experience at Highland and that at general, I would go to general again hands down. They're in a different league.

I'm so glad to read this! I go see Dr. DiBenedetto tomorrow. I did a search and not much comes up. Thanks for posting

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
