Sore, sore feet-rarely mentioned

Recommended Posts

Same here. Except that I never woke up from the pain:notagree

It happened to me when I gained weight too fast, I guess my feet went on a strike against all the new fat it had to carry....

Hi, I used to have terrific foot pain in the morning. Would get out of bed (gingerly) and painfully, barely be able to leave the room. It happened more days than most, and after about a half an hour, it would dissipate.

Miraculously, after about the first 25 pounds of weight loss - the foot pain disappeared - never to return! Thanks for reminding me of this now, long forgotton major NSV!

Best, Brad

Dody, I know this sound funky, but a little old foot dr I went to,(thought HE needed a scooter) lol said yep yur weight has alot to do with this, I havethe same as you plus heel spurs I coud catch marlins with! he told me to get heel spur holes, foam pieces with hold in which the mid part of heel sits inside shoe with, and to get just a plain pair of arch supports like scholls, I am amazed how well it worked!! I had paid all this money for insurts in shoes, not to mention cost of expensive shoes, and a combined cost of 15 did the trick for me!! I do have new balance just because I am a nurse also and they have are wider and have a bigger toebox, (can't stand toes to be crowded !) lol

Whenever I walk more than half a block, I get the most horrible pains in the bottoms of my feet. It feels like really bad cramping, only I can't relieve it by stretching my feet. The other thing I get is really bad pain up the sides of my legs, from foot to knee. It hurts, and if I don't get the message and sit down, it starts to burn. I gained a lot of weight in a fast period of time, so I know the two are related.

Sidebar: I have always wanted to be one of those girls who can walk in high heels. I never could, though. It was just too painful. I could never figure out how other people were able to do it and I couldn't. Hello - I'm carrying an extra 130 pounds - that's a lot to balance on the balls of your feet!

When I reach my goal, I'm tossing all of my hideous clunky black fat girl shoes and buying new shoes. Pretty shoes. And many of them will have heels!

Have any of you tried Easy Spirit shoes? Without them, my feet would kill me. I either go barefoot in summer, wear Easy Spirit sandals, or wear Easy Spirits in the winter. Can't wear their tennis shoes b/c their too narrow and my toes go numb. I'm glad to hear about New Balance. I didn't know they were wider in the toe. :clap2:

New Balance probably makes the best walking shoe on the market. It was highly recommended to me by 3 different doctors who deal with foot problems. It definitely gives you more toe room, which I need. I also love my Crocs (and they were defined as butt ugly by one poster, and they are) but they are comfort to the max. A lot of nurses and professionals that are on their feet all day are wearing crocs...and talk about toe room. You look a little like Sasquatch with the shape of the shoes, but who cares if you are comfortable. They are really becoming a big thing, but beware of immitations. They are just not comfortable. You can order Crocs or take a look at them at Zappos.com. I have just about every color in both metros and sandals. You might want to give them a try. They are just a little like walking on a pillow..........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I have sore feet anyway and nothing will prevent that if I have to be on them for any length of time, but the Crocs sure help to some extent. Yesterday was a bad day for the old "dogs". I had to do Walmart and nothing prepares me for that. Worse yet I wore a pair of Ryka's, which are also excellent, but were new. Not a good time to try out a new shoe. Still shuffling around today with pain.

Thought I would just chime in here. I have more foot pain in the morning when I have carbs the night before. If I lay off carbs, the pain is not so bad in the am.

For shoes, New Balance is good - but I've recently found that Asics are even better. They have terrific arch support and are very light weight. I was shopping for new balance when the salesman asked me what I like about NB - I told him it was because of the width and he recommended the Asics. I usually need the 'wide width' distinction in everything, but not these!!!

I was looking for new shoes because my 2 miles on the treadmill would kill my feet. Just today, I'm up to 2.5 miles in 45 minutes and my dawgs are not barking when I'm done!!!

Just my .02

I've been trying to get used to walking on a bed of burning nails, but I just can't get used to it. My feet weren't designed (although a size 12) to hold almost 300 pounds. If my insurance won't approve me for the band, I'm going to submit a request for a power chair. :frusty:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
