My goal is to lose at least 160 lbs.

Well that's definitely doable with the lap band. Welcome to the club, Huberslave!

I finally made it into the 200's and I am totally thrilled because I can't even say how long it has been since I've seen that number. Now I'm starting to think this band thing may just work.

Hi all, it has been a long while since I have posted. I am now down 23 pounds. I am so excited. With my other group we are doing a Christmas challenge. I am hoping to hit my goal by then. I hope you all are doing well.

Hi my name is Sandy I was banded on 9/25/06. I was wondering...my stomach or just abdominal cavity hurts. I haven't started solids yet, (actually tomorrow) and I feel nauseus (sp) in the afternoon and evenings. after 4 weeks am I supposed to feel normal? Does anyone else have the same problems? mostly the ache is around my stomach area. am I eating too little, too much (dont think so) the pain isn't strong just continual ache. :D also

next question: what do you suggest for first solid. My dietitian said to add one new solid a day..... where do I start?

I just read back on about 5-6 pages of your posts.. I think I belong here. I started at 320.... honestly, I can't beleive I got that high....... thanks for any advice. :nervous

wow am I glad I found this thread !!! I am 381, BMI 54.6, hopefully will get a surgery date when I go back to Doctor next week. Reading the posts here and wow how encouraging !!! You are all doing great and I am so ready for this new part of my life to begin. Went for my lab work this last week, after doing all testing, and had gained a pound. I dont know how, been following the pre-surgery diet, cut out all sugar, caffeine, started my Protein and Vitamins. Anyway, that was crushing because I am hungry all the time and still gained weight. My fiance couldnt believe it either. But I am just going to cut back more and go back next week to weigh and hopefully will get a date for first part of November. Anyway, thanks for starting this thread and thanks for the encouragement you give others.

sandranoelle,

I was feeling a bit nauseous too but it was during my 1st week. I couldn't figure out if it was hunger or the band. I think now that it was hunger. My nutritionist gave me the go ahead to eat soft foods at 9 days out. Last week, my doc. gave permission to eat whatever I felt I could tolerate. I'm now 3 weeks out and eating whatever I want except for steak. I'm afraid of chunks of meat.I just can't eat much. I absolutely crave fish. I've never really cared for it before. Now, if we go out I want Captain D's everytime. :) I can usually eat 1 piece of their fish and a couple bites of coleslaw and I'm full.

Maybe it's hunger that you're feeling.Call your doc. He may give permission to advance.

Hello fellow Banisters - My name is Butch and I have not been here (LBT) in awhile, some months in fact. Anyway............... I am just checking back in (do to a nice email I got saying I have not been here in awhile), and seeing what is happing out there in the world of banister's. I can see a lot has not really changed, the names have changed to protect the innocent, LOL.

I live in Citrus County Florida, between Inverness & Crystal River, if you don't know where that is, it's about 90 miles north of Tampa. I got my Ban installed in New York on, Feb 02 and have lost like 200 lbs, I know that is a lot, but.... I still have another 200 to go (I still weight 400 lbs). I have been at this place for some years now and have had 2 fills with no luck. I had to go back to NY to get these fills, as there was no place in Florida to get them. I went to a place outside of Tampa, and they could not do it as I was over 400 lbs and there table did not hold fatty's who where 400+. So I went to NY, and they did it. Then I heard of fillcenterUSA and called them, they sent me to Tampa and the lady there could not do the fill, even after 45 min's of sticking me with a number of needles, one she even bent trying to get the port. Well, I stopped payment on the check to fill center and went back to NY, where I got the fill in like 10 min's time, I could not see what the problem was in Tampa. Anyway........... all that said, to say I have 2.5 cc in the Ban now, and you would think that would do it. Well, I am sorry to say, someday's I can eat quite a bit, I know I manipulate the Ban and drink during meals, but if there was a place close by where I could get a fill and if it was too much I could go right back and have it adjusted. However, with the only people who have done my fills are in NY, I am kind of nervious about getting too much. I wish there was a place, close by where I could build a relationship with, and could do the fills and maybe I would be able to get rid of this excess tonnage. There is one other problem that I am having and that is the fact that after losing the first 200 lbs, the rest of the fat has settled in a pouch hanging in front of my.............. middle? It's like having a 90 lb apron on. I do as much as I can in the way of excessive, but anything out of the pool is just hell on my back and my legs. Ooooooooh what a tangled web I have gotten myself into. I guess it's some of the past Karma stuff I must pay for, it makes life very difficult, and it makes love making almost impossible. Thank God for a loving and understanding wife of 28 years. I looked into some plastic surgery and they said I would have to lose more weight to get this done............ Am I crying in my milk ?????? If this was someone else, I would be the first one to ask them, "Are you Pissing, or Moaning ??, I can't tell ???". LOL. Anyway just thought I would tell all of the Fellow Banisters my tale of woe.

If I had it to do all over again ?? I would only change one thing, and that would be...................... getting the Ban here in Florida where I live now. When I first got the Ban installed I had no idea how much aftercare I would need, I guess hindsight in 20/20, right??

I have had this Ban a long time and it is part of my life, maybe that's the problem, I know how to work around it, when I can eat, and when I can't. I can still eat almost a full meal out, if I order the right stuff and eat it very slow. I also don't do flesh, maybe a little fish, and sometimes chicken when all that is all there is. I think I have not been on LBT because I am kind of embaressed of the amount of time I have had the Ban and have been in this place for OH SO LONG. I did make a post on the Florida Banister's page, seeing if anyone there knows of any other place I might go to get a fill. With that said I will try everyday and eat less and do more, the only way to lose weight.

Butch

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
