Hi guys I,m Teleah. I have a 12-19-06 surgery date. I'm excited and a little nervous. I keep thinking that I'm going too far. I know that I need to lose the weight but what is life going to be like after the band. My family celebrates everythig with dinner. I am going to need a lot of support. I'll keep you guys posted as to how everything goes.;)

Teleah,

The band is going to be the best tool you have ever used in your life!! You are going to be learning to eat to live, not live to eat. I believe your family dinners will be wonderful for you. Just because you won't eat a large plate or two, doesn't mean that you won't be able to enjoy it. I am not saying that you do that, I use to. I believe you are making the right decision.

:help: we are going to an amusement park, busch gardens, willliamsburg, this weekend and i am not sure what to eat as we'll be there all day. i had my first pb yesterday at a local fair and NEVER want ot experience that again!!!!:grouphug:

another ? has anyone been on rides since sx? i have been afraid to go on since gaining so much wt. with my luck i would be the fat chick on the news whose belt broke and fell to her death. if you have gone on, did it go well? i used to LOVE roller coasters and any ride really and would love to go on but even tho i am down 40 i am not even close to normal size at 250!

Hello, I was banded on 9-22 and I am finding that you actually eat more often and just "graze" I am not yet on solids but I can already see that I eat slowly, socialize and will be able to eat more in a few hours. In fact, you will be hungry every few hours. I am now looking forward to Thanksgiving because I can just graze and not have that full-I need a nap feeling all day.

Larry, I felt that sleeping in my recliner helped. It was comfortable and I could get up easy. Just keep walking around and you will regain your strenght and each day it gets better. I am a little over a month and I feel great. Its hard to believe that I have the band. I was very lucky. I just can't wait until the weight starts to move. I only lost 7 lbs the first month and I get my first fill on the 11th. And now I begin!!!!! good luck!

Good morning everyone!

I'm doing pretty well with my pre surgery weight loss. With the group I'm working with you have to lose your 10% before you even get to see the surgeon.

I'm in the process of getting all my clearances, and I've lose 21 lbs so far!

From 317 I'm down to 296! I'm absolutely thrilled with my results so far. I'm on a 1200 calorie diet, and at first the weight kind of melted away, but I'm having to start adding exercise to see results now.

Well hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

I got off my diabetic meds immediately due to the fact that they were time-release capsules and could not be crushed and they were too big to swallow. But two weeks after surgery my doctor said that my diet was doing it and that I didn't need to go back on the Fortamet. So its one down and one to go. How nice it will be to not have to take anything but multi-vitamins. Just like a good metro sexual should!

Harlito: Great that you're off your diabetes meds. Me too! I used to take Glucophage for diabetes, Lisinopril for blood pressure, and Lipitor for cholesterol. No more! My recent tests showed optimal numbers all round, so I'm now managing everything with diet and exercise. NO MEDS EXCEPT FOR VITAMINS! What a great benefit, huh?

I did the same thing. I was on a 4 week Medifast plan before hand and I had to stop taking my Avandia for my diabetes, I have been off meds for several weeks now. I haven't had a blood sugar over 126 in that long!! It feels great to get off the meds. I am also off from my blood pressure meds and I am off from my kidney meds. What a difference a 22 pounds and a better diet does for you.

Take Care,

Erin

I went out of town for the weekend and for the first time in years I was able to walk around non-stop for 2 days, go to the movies and walk all the way up the stairs to the top row without running short of breath and comfortably take my seat. What made this even better I saved money on not buying any popcorn and coke. I know it is a small accomplishment but still required a celebration happy dance.

Has anyone tried Water aerobics? If so how did you like it and did it aid in your wt loss? I currently walk and go to Curves, which I enjoy, but I was looking for other things to try.

Hey Jen,

I do Water aerobics and I love it. It does not hurt my joints (have 2 kinds of arthritis) and it has certainly helped in keeping weight down. I feel like I have more energy and much better flexibility. I started slow with an arthritis class and then when I felt I could do more went to the regular water aerobics class.

I hope you try it and like it, it has been the one exercise that I have stuck to and I actually like it. We have a blast in class!

Take care,

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
