How old are you? I was 23 when I got banded (24 now) and cannot praise it enough. Don't be too worried about the process and about losing your favorite foods. After surgery and until my second fill, I could eat whatever I wanted. Actually, I could still eat whatever I want, but don't think the time to eat them is worth the reward.

Also, realize this is a lot more of a mental game than a physical one. Make sure your head is in the right place and that you are willing and ready to follow the guidelines.

If you have any specific questions, I would love to answer them!

I was banded 3 months ago, and I also wish I would have done it sooner. I've lost about 13 pounds since surgery, but I think it took a long time for the weight I lost before surgery, to show on my body, so in the last month, all of a sudden more of my clothes are too big.

I can't wait until I'm down another 40 more!

Good luck next month.

Nerves are totally normal. Heck, I almost cancelled the whole thing the day before surgery! I'm so glad that I didn't though, this is one decision I have not regretted for a second. The thought of giving up some of my favorite foods was daunting, but so completely worth it. Going through the process really retrained my brain, and I realized I needed to start eating to live instead of living to eat.

Change can be scary but oh-so-rewarding!

Thanks guys I just feel alone. No one really knows what going thru ( family and friend wise) I'm glad there bunch of people being supportive.

It is normal to be nervous, I had the surgery a year ago and it was my first time having any kind of surgery. But I had to do it to help myself. A year later and 100 lbs down I'm glad I did it. This site helped me alot and going into the chat room and asking questions. You should look for a support group in your area. I have to say it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck and if you have any question I'll try to help :)

this is a great place for support, congrats on deciding to have surgery, i like others wish i would have done it in my 20's, but oh well. i have no regrets now. i'm not gonna sugar coat it and say it's easy cuz it's not, but like someone else said it's sooooooooooooooo mental. if you're head is in the right place, you will be successful...feel free to PM me anytime

I'm also going to be banded in august and I have a lot of mixed emotions feeling scared and worried? But I know this is a new beinging for me! And for you as well!

I too will be banded in August. I am nervous that my family will not be supportive. My husband knows and understands the process and says that he will be support me but I don't know if he really will once the changes are necessary.

don't worry that's what we are here for!!!

I will be banded Aug 6, so mine is right around the corner. I've never once thought of what I will experience in discomfort or pain, only have positive thoughts in how healthy I will be and feel once I start losing more weight and then keeping it off. I believe this procedure is a God sent small miracle that is truly a non-evasive procedure.

Only think positive in getting healthy and living a good life for yourself and for your family. You are doing the right thing for you. I believe this as true. Good luck on your new future journey. I will be there for you always and others will also be there.
