So I said I would give the band 2 years .... and it's coming up on that in Sept. I'm only down 45 pounds and nothing since last November. I recently have found myself hungry more then usual.. however still get stuck & vomit at least twice a week and have a good amount of stuff I cant tolerate... so I don't think a fill is in order. I feel like a lot of my food is mush .. tuna, chicken salad ground beef etc to keep things from sticking... cutting up a hamburg patty would be too much .. it goes into the chopper and mixed with Tomato and relish to get it down without an issue. I try and stick with high Protein low carb to keep me full as much as possible. I don't drink with meals. I used to not snack but found my portions bigger then they should be.. so now I have my 3 smaller meals with a healthy snack either fruit or yogurt usually. I told myself 2 years and if all else failed I would go the gastric bypass route. I really don't want to but don't know what else to do to make the band more effective. I have kept food logs, still walk at least 2 miles a day and do weights at the gym 2 days a week. Most recently I had my diabetes med changed to one that has a side effect of weight loss which has also not changed anything ..

have you put down on paper the amount of calories etc that you would have on a normal day? sometimes the body goes into shutdown if there isnt enough calories. if you are walking and working out in the gym then perhaps you need to look at how much you are eating. Im reading a book called the 4 hour body... and some of the info is really good. It talks about staggering the amount of food you eat from day to day. As well as, perhaps two days a week, just have protein. I dont know if this would help you out. Im sure there is a way around this problem though. No wonder you are getting frustrated. I find that by staggering my intake im losing more weight. my metabolism is very sluggish and it locks into ''no weight loss mode'' when i drop the calorie intake right down and keep it down.

. It seems that eating a significantly different amount from day to day.. one day perhaps over 1300, the next maybe only about 900 or 1000, et etc does fool my body into thinking its getting enough all the time, and this is when weight loss occurs with me.

Yes I posted something about this a few weeks back.like muscle confusion when u switch up ur exercise routing to lose more.I heard it was called calorie confusion.if ur body doesn't get settled in a certain calorie intake it will continue to burn calories.but if it figures out ur routine it will stop burning.

I found that I was doing this unintentionally but it seems to be working.I've only been banded since April 4th buy have not gone a month with out losing at least 4 lbs.

I think counting calories and and increasing and decreasing as well as changing ur exercise routine will help.good luck.

has your MD looked at your insulin level, and other hormonal panels, you must be so frustrated. I'd talk with your surgon and if they are no help i'd talk with your primary care. Some disorders like thyroid disease can stay hidden for a while before diagnosis. Also have they tested you for PCOS? as that can wreck havock on your efforts to shed the weight even with the insertion of a lap band. Hope you get some answers.

I do have the PCOS, and am diabetic, in fact on double the insulin I was on prior to surgery which just adds to weight gain so thats why we just switched some meds around.. blood sugar in better control but more meds then ever and no weight loss.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
